One Piece Egghead Island arc’s trailer is now out, which shows a significant change in the animation style by Toei Animation, and fans aren’t happy about it.

The trailer shows a very different art style from Wano Arc, and the biggest change this trailer had was Usopp’s skin color. Usopp’s skin color was shown as black from the start of the anime/manga, and even in the live-action by Netflix.

However, in a recent trailer, Usopp’s skin color was changed to a normal tone (kind of white/skin). This was first done to Robin after the time skip and now to Usopp in Egghead Island.

However, many One Piece fans don’t like this change. So, in this article, we will take a look at the major changes done by Toei Animation for Egghead Island and fans’ response to this new style.

The Major Differences in the One Piece Egghead Island Teaser

The recently released One Piece teaser of episode 1089 showcases a major animation difference, and the newer animation looks more fluid than the previous one. Toei has been changing animation style frequently now with every new arc.

We had a different type of animation for the Dressrossa arc, then Whole Cake Island, and finally, Wano Arc. All these three arcs had noticeable animation changes in them.

Well, Toei Animation can’t just stick to one style since technology and people’s tastes have been changing rapidly over the period, and they need to adapt to newer technology/animation from time to time.

However, the new animation of Egghead Island has changed Usopp’s skin tone to white from black. We have seen Usopp in black tone color for a really long time, so it’s kind of weird to see him in a white tone color.

Fans Reaction to the New Animation Style of Egghead Island

I just checked the comment section of the One Piece teaser for Egghead Island, and the majority of people are linking the new animation. Everyone is praising Toei for improving the quality every time.

Some think that this fluid animation may work for the action sequence that we will be seeing in Egghead Island. While the majority of the fans like the new animation style, there are still some people who don’t like it.

Some fans think that Luffy looks kind of childish in this new animation. The majority of fans are questioning Usopp’s skin tone, which is changing from black to white. We have seen this before, too, in Robin’s case, where they changed her skin tone after the time skip.

However, fans liked that change done to Robin and took it positively, but Usopp’s case is a bit different here. One Piece fans have seen that skin tone for about 24 years, so changing his color suddenly seems a little bit weird.

I think that the new animation will be well-suited for the upcoming fight that we are going to see Egghead Island arc. There is no doubt that Wano’s animation was amazing, but we always need an upgrade.

Why Usopp’s Skin Tone has changed to White?

Well. we still don’t have any exact reason for why his skin tone has been changed, but what I think is that it is just an error made by the editing team. Since it is just a teaser, we can’t say for sure that they have changed his skin tone.

We will get to know about it soon when episode 1089 airs, which is on January 7, 2024. I still think that Usopp looks as good as he was, and there is no need to change his color or anything. Since they have shifted to a new animation, they must have made some errors with Usopp, which they may fix in the final cut version.

However, in the poster and in the trailer for Egghead Island’s release on November 26, Usopp’s color does seem a bit changed, so it can also be permanent, like Robin’s. But I still think we should wait till January 7 for the conclusion.
