The GOAT debate is one of the most divisive topics in the NBA community. Former teammate of LeBron James at the Heat, Ray Allen notably gave his opinion on the question, and his response obviously had the effect of sowing discord among fans.

In 2013, LeBron James won his second NBA title against the Spurs at the end of one of the most legendary series in history. The King then received his second Finals MVP trophy and thus further expanded his list of achievements. However, the story could have been completely different if Ray Allen had not scored his legendary 3-point shot, synonymous with overtime, then victory in Game 6.

The glorious shooter spent two seasons alongside LeBron in Miami and was therefore able to see the extent of his talent up close. This, after being able to admire that of Michael Jordan at the start of his career. As such, he seems well placed to express himself in the debate between the two men regarding the GOAT. This is also what he did on the Dan Patrick Show by delivering a clear opinion.

Ray Allen snubs LeBron and makes Michael Jordan the GOAT

First of all, I think LeBron James is without a doubt Top 5 all-time. But for playing against him and against MJ… For me, MJ is the best, every day. Simply by relying on my duels against him. MJ had the full arsenal. From mid-range shooting to 3-point shooting, to post play… He could score and dominate anywhere on the court.

LeBron is also dominant, he can do so many things… He’s one of the best passers in history, and it’s probably the part of the game where MJ was the least efficient. But at the same time, MJ had no other weaknesses. Defensively, he was incredible. He was as dominant in this aspect of the game as he was on offense. He was a two-way player.
According to Ray Allen, MJ’s offensive and defensive dominance takes precedence over LeBron’s versatility. Indeed, the Chosen One may be one of the most complete players in history, his former Heat teammate prefers to give his voice to His Airness. This, obviously without succeeding in convincing the fans of the Chosen One, who consider his opinion inadmissible:

He’s a full back lol he never had to defend on Bron, that’s why
Ray Allen is part of this small list of players who faced Michael Jordan in his prime and played with LeBron James. With this experience, he considers Mike superior to his historic rival, even if it means alienating the fans of his former leader.
