The Masked Singer UK viewers are convinced they know Piranha’s true identity after the character blew fans and judges away with their incredible singing voice.

The hit show returned on Saturday with panellists Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, and Mo Gilligan aiming to work out the identity of six new characters.

The latest lineup included characters such as Air Fryer, Bubble Tea, Owl, Eiffel Tower, Chicken Caesar and Piranha.

And during the latest episode, Piranha went up against Chicken Caesar leaving the judges and viewers back home speechless with their incredible performance.

Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) fans of the show were adamant that Piranha’s true identity was McFly lead singer Danny Jones.

One viewer tweeted: ‘Piranha on the masked singer defo sounds like Danny Jones’.

A second added ‘I am 98% sure Piranha on The Masked Singer UK might be Danny Jones from McFly!!!!’.

While a third quipped: ‘Danny is 100% on The Masked Singer’.

Meanwhile a fourth added: ‘I’m convinced Danny is the piranha on Masked Singer’.

Before Saturday night’s show aired the characters also dropped some clues including Piranha who said ‘Everything about this show is completely surreal.’

Speaking about the costumes, Jonathan Ross said of Piranha ‘I liked Piranha a lot. They’re fun, I have to say.’

While Mo Gilligan added: ‘It’s so hard to explain when there’s a new series and you say a name like Chicken Caesar and it’s a chicken dressed as Julius Caesar or you say we have a Piranha that is smiling in pyjamas, that is the concept. It’s totally mad!’

During the show, the panel also made their guesses and surprisingly none of them included Danny Jones.

The judges guessed that it was either Steven Seagal, Jamie Cullum, Jordan Knight, or Sting behind the mask.

It comes after Lauren Laverne seemingly let slip a huge Masked Singer spoiler on Thursday’s episode of The One Show.

Hosts Lauren, 45, and Roman Kemp, 30, were chatting to Masked Singer panellist Davina McCall when Lauren mentioned that there would be a ‘former Doctor Who’ on the show.

The radio DJ said: ‘A former Doctor Who will be making an appearance on The Masked Singer this series, along with some huge music stars.’

The trio seemingly brushed over the comment and spoke about Dionne Warwick – who got booted off the first show last Saturday after everyone guessed who she was – instead.

During the show, the panel also made their guesses and surprisingly none of them included Danny Jones, instead names included Steven Seagal, Jamie Cullum, Jordan Knight, or Sting

Social media users picked up on the comment though, with one posting: ‘@BBCTheOneShow did @laurenlaverne accidentally give away that a former #DoctorWho is a contestant on the @MaskedSingerUK this year?’

Another asked: ‘Did you just give away that one of the masked singers is a former Doctor Who? Spoilers!’

A third wrote: ‘A former Doctor Who will be on #MaskedSinger???’ as someone replied: ‘I noticed that, big spoiler and nobody seems to have picked up on it. Unless she meant as a guest on the panel for a week?’

The apparent blunder came after The Masked Singer returned to TV screens on Saturday night and Dionne Warwick, 83, was unmasked.

The legendary singer’s identity was rumbled within seconds of her stepping onto the stage as both the judges and fans at home recognised her distinctive voice.

During the episode, Dionne battled it out against Rat, while Big Foot and Dippy Egg went head-to-head and Cricket took on Maypole.

After their performances, Maypole, Dippy Egg and Weather found themselves in the bottom three, with the judges choosing to save Maypole and then Dippy Egg.

As Weather was sent home, the judges, although all guessing that Dionne was behind the mask, were still shocked to see her standing on the stage.

Talking about taking part in the show, Dionne said: ‘It’s been an absolute joy when I was asked to the show I was like yes let’s have some fun, but I can never try to disguise my voice!’

The That’s What Friends Are For musician added: ‘When I got the call and was asked if I would do it here in the UK, I jumped at the opportunity. I said, “Yeah, let’s go have some fun.”‘

When asked about how difficult she found it keeping a secret, she continued: ‘That’s the hardest part of all because I’m a talker, I love to talk, and I couldn’t talk to anybody.’

‘But I had no choice. I had to follow the rules so I didn’t say a word to anybody, and it was the hardest thing in the world for me to do.’

Dionne said of her costume: ‘Well, it’s nothing unusual for me to be in what is considered a costume, so I felt right at home. Isn’t it a lovely costume? I’ve had a ball.

‘You know the weather is very unpredictable. I am totally predictable. You always know what Dionne is about and up to. Always!’
