Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson had an on-off relationship for five years, during which the NBA player cheated on the reality star multiple times

Tristan Thompson has tried to explain why he cheated on Khloe Kardashian, claiming he “didn’t know how to love”.The former lovers, who share two children together, started dating in 2016 and had an on-off relationship until their final split in 2021. Their relationship was surrounded with drama, with Tristan cheating on Khloe on multiple occasions.

Since their split, Tristan has been going to therapy to try and address his past behaviour. Tristan Thompson spoke out about his actions ( 

Sitting opposite Tristan, Kourtney said: “I’m really not here to judge. I don’t have any anger, just more like, I want an understanding of how you could do these things or how it got there.” She asked if Tristan ever felt “remorse” for his actions.

Tristan explained: “For me personally, when I cheat, I feel disgusted the next day. This prompted Kourtney to ask how he could continue to do it if it made him feel so guilty.”I was just cheating for an action, I was cheating just for a feeling,” Tristan said. He added: “But also it really came down to not really knowing how to love because that’s the way I grew up.

Kourtney Kardashian has some harsh words for Tristan

“I think with therapy, I realised that my childhood upbringing, what I saw from like my dad and how he treated my mom, as a kid, when you see that, the trauma you have is… Because you can’t protect your mom because you’re so young and because your mom tells you it’s going to be okay, you basically numb your emotions.

“Tristan said he believes his mum, Andrea Thompson, “numbed” her feelings so her kids wouldn’t have to see her upset. The NBA star continued: “I never understood how to feel pain or how to feel someone’s emotions because the most important person in my life, even though they’re being treated terribly, never allowed me to.”

He added: “So I never understood pain and suffering. I’ve never seen a man treat a woman good, I’ve never seen a man not cheat on a woman. I’ve never seen a good husband. I made a mistake.”

Tristan also shared his hopes for reconciling with Khloe and said: “If I was ahead of it [cheating] and maybe told Khloe, we might have been able to figure it out together instead of her being blindsided.”

Kourtney was taken aback by his statement and shot back: “I don’t think you deserve Khloe, or that the actions that you’ve done have been something she’s deserved.”Tristan cheated on Khloe while she was pregnant with their daughter True, who they welcomed in 2018.

They then split a year later after it was revealed Tristan had cheated on Khloe with her sister Kylie Jenner’s best friend Jordyn Woods.

The pair reunited during the Coronavirus pandemic, when they quarantined together. Khloe and Tristan went their separate ways for a final time when Tristan was found to have fathered a child with another woman just before the arrival of his second child with Khloe via surrogate.
