Every year since 1985, People magazine has taken on the not-so-unpleasant task of choosing who is the “hottest man alive.” It’s been 35 years since the day in which Mel Gibson was the first man to ever be granted this title.

People wanted the new title they came up with to be so renowned that they even made a special cover for Mel Gibson back then and their strategy worked.

The award became an instant classic. Ever since then, many celebrities have been on People magazine’s cover celebrating male beauty. Some have even been there twice… You won’t be surprised to know that the list includes names like George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, and Richard Gere.
