Eiichiro Oda’s Upcoming Anime on Netflix Will Focus on the Legendary Swordsman Shimotsuki Ryuma.

SUMMARY

Monsters: 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation is based on the one-shot that series creator Eiichiro Oda worked on prior to One Piece being serialised.

The main character is Ryuma, a Wano native who appeared in the Thriller Bark arc of One Piece.

The anime adaptation of Oda’s Monsters manga will debut on Netflix in January 2024.

Probably the best arc in Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece, the Wano arc had some brilliant storyline, astonishing characters, and shocking battles. Kozuki Oden, the former Daimyo of Wano, was the inspiring character of the arc and was one of the big reasons why the people of Wano fought against Kaido to gain freedom from him.

The story of Wano was so good that although it took almost four years to complete the story, fans loved every bit of it, and now fans will get to see the story of another great character from the Wano country as Netflix has announced that they will release Eiichiro Oda’s one-shot manga that focused on Shimotsuki Ryuma, a legendary swordsman from Wano.

Shimotsuki Ryuma From One Piece

Legendary and internationally recognized, Shimotsuki Ryuma was a samurai from Wano Country’s Shimotsuki Family. He lived centuries ago in Wano during the “Country of Gold” period. Along with his feat of slaying a dragon, he was also highly regarded for his proficiency with a sword, for which he was dubbed Sword God.

In addition, he is Roronoa Zoro’s direct ancestor. Ryuma had enormous physical strength because he could decapitate an enormous dragon with a single slash thanks to the force of his swordsmanship. Twenty-three years before the present plot, Gecko Moria broke into Ryuma’s dedicated grave in Ringo, stealing both his sword and corpse.

Later, he transformed Ryuma into a zombie so that he could serve and be used by him in Thriller Bark until Zoro eventually defeated him and got his sword. Despite being a villain, Ryuma’s character received a lot of love from One Piece fans, and now his entire story will be told in the upcoming Netflix anime series.
