Yamcha, one of the weakest characters of Dragon Ball was able to defeat Vegeta in a spin-off series.
SUMMARY
Vegeta is one of the strongest characters in the Dragon Ball franchise and there are not many characters who can defeat Vegeta.
However, Yamcha, one of the weakest characters is able to defeat him when Vegeta came to earth in a spin-off series.
This spin-off Dragon Ball series had Yamcha as protagonist who trained hard enough to defeat the Saiyan.
In the world of Dragon Ball, Vegeta is considered to be one of the strongest characters in the entire franchise. From the point of his introduction to the current storyline, Vegeta has grown significantly and has reached the level of Super Saiyan God along with his rival Goku. There are not many characters who could challenge Vegeta and win against him.
However, there is one character who nobody would have expected worked hard enough to not only reach the level of Vegeta but beat him and defeat him in a battle. The character is Yamcha, who is known as the joke of the Dragon Ball series because of his low strength and the battles that he fought in the series.
Yamcha
Contrary to popular belief, Yamcha has defeated Vegeta, and that too during the time when Vegeta first landed on Earth. However, he has done this in an entirely different spin-off series of Dragon Ball called the Dragon Ball: That Time I Got Reincarnated as Yamcha.

Dragon Ball: That Time I Got Reincarnated as Yamcha Makes Yamcha Look Strong
Written and illustrated by Dragon Garow Lee, Dragon Ball: That Time I Got Reincarnated as Yamcha is a spin-off manga that was published in Shueisha’s digital manga magazine Shonen Jump+. The manga explores what would happen if a Dragon Ball fan were thrown into the franchise and is about a student who is reincarnated as Yamcha during the storyline that ended in 2017.
Yamcha
The student could have made different decisions that would have better prepared him for Nappa and Vegeta’s arrival during the Saiyan saga, had he known the events of the series. He then immediately starts training with Goku under Roshi.
Yamcha had succeeded in growing significantly stronger than he had in the original tale by the time of the Saiyan conflict. After training aggressively Yamcha cannot only surpass Vegeta but also defeat him upon his arrival, which causes a major impact on the story.

Yamcha Defeated Vegeta in Dragon Ball Spin-Off Series
The protagonist Yamcha is shown training like Goku in Dragon Ball: That Time I Got Reincarnated Yamcha’s second chapter. He even reaches his full potential by visiting Namek before the Saiyans’ arrival on Earth.
Yamcha – Dragon Ball
The manga gives Yamcha the well-known moment when Nappa and Vegeta are shocked to learn that Yamcha has a power level of over 10,000 when he eventually returns. Yamcha was able to compete with Vegeta in the final fight until the latter tricked him into believing Beerus, the God of Destruction, was here on Earth.
He just needed to confuse Vegeta for a moment before kicking him in the air to unleash a Kamehameha wave that contained the last of Goku’s energy. Yamcha was able to achieve what he dreamed of achieving in the original series. He wanted to defeat Vegeta and prove his worth to the entire Dragon Ball fandom, which he was able to do in his spin-off series.
