MANCHESTER UNITED sealed a crucial Champions League win over Copenhagen thanks to a last-gasp penalty save from Andre Onana.
But some fans noticed that his team-mate influenced the spot-kιck.
Andre Onana saved Jordan Larsson’s penalty
.
Fans noticed that Alejandro Garnacho scuffed the penalty spot before the kιck was taken
Garnacho was brought on as a second-half substitute but couldn’t find the back of the net after several good chances
Alejandro Garnacho appeared to scuff the penalty spot while the referee wasn’t looking – just moments before Jordan Larsson’s shot was saved.
Fans took to social media to react, with one person writing: “Garnacho you wonderful house.”
Another added: “GARNACHO I LOVE YOU.”
A third person wrote: “Bro went straight into business as soon as referee whistles for penalty.”
While a fourth joked: “HAHAHAHA MY HOUSE STARBOY.”
Speaking after the nervy victory, United boss Ten Hag said: “I didn’t see it. The referee probably didn’t see it either. I don’t know.”
Harry Maguire’s goal in the second half gave Man Utd the victory, 1-0.
In Group A, the Red Devils are now third, behind Bayern Munich and Galatasaray.
Maguire, who scored the game’s opening goal, said to TNT Sports: “Incredible. We need to be more decisive; in the second half, we had multiple counterattacks and didn’t give them a chance.
“The first-half was really poor, it was not perfect but an important win. This man [Andre Onana] stepped up and it was a massive save.”
Before kickoff, Manchester United honored club legend Sir Bobby Charlton.
After a three-year struggle with dementia, the 1966 World Cup hero passed away on Saturday.
Before the game, both sides held a moment of silence, and Erik ten Hag, Man Utd Under-19 captain Dan Gore, and Alex Stepney, a former teammate of Sir Bobby, carried a wreath to the center circle.
Maguire continued, commenting on the significance of the outcome and the event, “It was meant to be. We were supposed to win the game; it was a wonderful save and a victory for Sir Bobby’s family.
“It has been a tough week for us away at Sheffield United and losing someone like Sir Bobby, it affects the cub and the dressing room. But really pleased we could get the win tonight.”
