Love Island’s Lana Jenkins opened up to her followers and said Christmas Day ‘didn’t feel so celebratory’ as she revealed her family was rocked by the tragic death of her Grandad

Former Love Island star Lana Jenkins took to Instagram to share a few glimpses into her Christmas Day which “didn’t feel so celebratory” as a tragic family death rocked her day.

Lana shared a carousel of images which included her sitting in her dressing gown on the sofa, some snaps of her delicious-looking dinner, and one of her Grandad who she lost “in the early hours of the morning”.

Opening up to her 572K followers, Lana captioned the post: “A little bit of my Christmas… stayed in PJ’s all day, food and movies”.

She continued: “We lost my Grandad in the early hours of the morning yesterday so the day didn’t feel so celebratory, so it’s family time for now. last pic is my grandad with our Addi”.

Friends and followers were quick to comment and send their love during the difficult time. Fellow Love Island star Ellie Brown said: “Sending you lots of love babe”, while Jessie Wynter added: “Sending love Lana”.

One fan penned: “So sorry for your loss Lana. Sending love to you & your family at this sad time”, while another added: “So sorry for your loss @lanajenkinss I lost my grandad this year to, he was my world, I know exactly how you are feeling, stay strong”.

Despite having a turbulent journey on the show, and seemingly coming out the other end as a strong couple, their relationship wasn’t built to last as they decided to go their separate ways just a few months later.

A source told the MailOnline at the time of their split: “Lana and Ron really put everything into their romance and have tried to make things work for some time now.

“Unfortunately, they have decided to separate, which is a decision they have made amicably and of course, they still remain good friends.”

The source went on to tell the publication that despite trying everything they could to make things work in the relationship, including constant travel back and forth for date nights and nights in, it was too exhausting for the couple to continue.
