LeBron helped the Lakers win the In-Season Tournament title last week

LEBRON James sent a message to Ja Morant ahead of his return – but fans thought he was announcing Tom Brady’s unretirement in the process.

The Los Angeles Lakers superstar, 38, issued the message to Morant, who’s returning from a 25-game suspension.

However, fans thought LeBron’s message was about NFL legend Tom Brady unretiring for a second timeCredit: GettyThe Memphis Grizzlies star point guard Morant was handed the suspension after being seen holding a gun on Instagram Live in May.

He was also given an eight-game suspension in March for a gun incident.

On Tuesday night, Morant is set to return to make his 2023 debut against the New Orleans Pelicans.

James took to X, formerly Twitter, and had a special message for Morant.

“12 welcome back!! Go be GREAT again!!” the four-time NBA champion wrote.

However, sports fans thought LeBron was announcing Brady returning to the NFL for a second time.

One commented: “I think @KingJames just gave everyone a heart attack thinking Brady is back.”

A second stated: “LeBron talking about the goat Tom Brady right?”

While a third wrote: “Thought Brady was coming back.”

Brady initially retired after the 2021 season only to announce he’d play for one more season.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion. retired in February after 22 impressive campaigns in the NFL.

And Brady will be a broadcaster for Fox Sports next year after receiving a $375 million deal.

Morant, meanwhile, will attempt to help the Grizzlies who have a brutal 6-19 record.

As for LeBron, he led the Lakers to an In-Season Tournament title last week.

Los Angeles, however, has lost three of their last four games as they sit with a 15-12 record.
