Since his arrival in the NBA, Victor Wembanyama has often seen himself compared to LeBron James, whether for his talent or his hype. The recent release of a Spurs player has for many brought a deadly parallel to the King.

Without a doubt, he would sign every day to achieve such a brilliant career. Victor Wembanyama indeed aims to compete with LeBron James , and even to eventually overtake him in the ranking of the best players in NBA history. For now, he is already trying to find his feet on the floors of the league and in the ranks of the Spurs, where one of his passions outside of basketball has caught the attention of more than one.

Victor Wembanyama wildly compared to LeBron James?

Beyond his performances, Wembanyama fascinates fans and journalists with his attitude away from the field. His professionalism quickly impressed San Antonio, as did his great passion… for reading . Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News recently devoted an article to it in which the Frenchman traces the origins of this love for literature, supposedly born very early in his life:

I wonder how many books I’ve read. I think with all the traveling I’ve read a lot more than before. Basically, I started reading books before elementary school. I read a lot throughout my primary school education, I calmed down in middle school and started again in high school. It’s something I love doing.

And it is not his teammate, Julian Champagnie, who risks denying his remarks:

He has huge books. We all have them in our locker room, but he’s definitely the one who reads the most. On the plane, before matches: he always has a book with him. You can even see him with a book in his hands when he goes to join the bus.

Also interviewed for this article, Tre Jones confirmed these statements and added additional information:

He devours them one after the other. It’s not like he gets stuck on the first page. He doesn’t do this for the cameras. He really reads a lot.
