One Piece reverts back to its old pacing for the anime as the Egghead Arc begins.
One Piece anime has finally ended the Wano arc and has now moved on to the Egghead Island arc, which is a big thing for the series. Egghead arc is the beginning of the Finale saga of the story of One Piece that has been going on for more than 20 years.

However, according to industry insider information, it has been revealed that since the Wano arc has ended, One Piece will go back to its old ways for the anime as the Egghead begins soon. This will surely impact the pacing of the anime and would be much slower as compared to the Wano arc episodes.
This news is a shock for fans as the increase in the pace for the last arc helped the anime almost catch up to the manga, which was not the original pace of the series overall. This made the fans believe that as the anime is catching up with the manga, the storyline in the manga would also eventually increase its pace.
One Piece Returns To Its Old Ways For The Anime
A One Piece leaker and Twitter user @pewpiece disclosed that the pacing of the anime adaption is changing. The anime series dedicated itself to bringing a complete chapter of source material to life in every episode it released, even during the most intense moments of the Wano arc.
Nevertheless, with the conclusion of the Wano arc, the Egghead arc will signal the return of the series to adapt less than one complete chapter of source material per episode. Fans were still unprepared for this development, even though Toei is exactly encroaching on the roughly 40-chapter distance they like to keep between their adaptation and the source.
One Piece Wano Arc
Many anticipated that Toei would continue to pace the events that connect the conclusion of the Wano arc and the beginning of the Egghead arc at one chapter per episode, but this was not the case. This decision has a big reason behind it which makes it justifiable as it could cause a big problem in the future and for the series in some way.
Reason Behind One Piece Returning To Its Old Ways
The increased pace in the anime episodes was greatly appreciated by the fans at the beginning of the Wano arc as it helped the fans to develop a better connection with the story in general. They were able to tie all the instances together as it did not involve many filler shots or extra extended moments of the episode.
However, because of this, the anime got too close to the source material. This would have easily affected both the manga and the anime in the future as there would be no source material left for Toei to adapt for the anime series. Looking at the pace of the manga, the slowing of pace is understandable.

Although it may disappoint the fans, it was a necessary adjustment for the betterment of the anime series. One Piece fans have loved the series with the slow pacing too and they would eventually understand the importance of it.
However, in the future Toei can still increase the pace of the anime series if the pace of the manga is increased or if the anime can maintain the perfect gap with the source material.
