One Piece author dreams of winning an Emmy in order to get recognized.
SUMMARY
Eiichiro Oda is the most successful manga artist of all time.
He is not satisfied with his current position and wants to be acknowledged globally for his work.
Emmy is an award he would like to win to solidify his position in the manga community as the best author of all time.
One Piece as a series is well-known worldwide and has broken several records. Oda sensei has made the series one of the top 10 most-selling fictional books ever, a huge feat for anime and manga. The anime also managed to break the internet during the airing of Gear 5.

However, despite this, Eiichiro Oda is unsatisfied and wants more. Recently, user Sandman shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, an old interview from 2009 in which Oda sensei expressed his desire to be ranked and his wish to get an award such as an Emmy or an Academy Award to prove that he is not just another mangaka but the greatest mangaka of all time.

Eiichiro Oda dreams of winning an Emmy or a renowned award once in his life
Oda sensei is one of the industry’s most hardworking authors, and it is common knowledge that his love for the story is not measurable.
He sleeps less than 5 hours daily to ensure the story gets enough time and attention, and he does not even prioritize his health.
Oda sensei has always been vocal about his opinions and has not hesitated to share what he wants openly. We saw his thoughts in an old, resurfaced interview with Shinobu Kaitani.

Netflix’s One Piece
In the interview, Oda sensei clearly states that he wants to win an Emmy or an Academy Award and wants to be ranked. He said:
I want to be ranked. I want a title to rank me. I wonder why I have the same title of “mangaka” as other people when I work so hard. Of course, if you have been drawing for a long time, you are called a maestro.
But even if you are young, you should be given a title according to your work. For example, “fantasista”. When you are a member of society, you have a title like “section chief” or “general manager” on your business card. It looks like a sign of “I worked so hard”. But as a mangaka, no matter how hard you work, you are still a mangaka. It’s a little bit demoralizing.
Fans might think that his desire for an award is something new; however, he has been vocal about it since long ago, and now that One Piece is managing to achieve global success, maybe his dream is not too far away.
