Formidable for several weeks, Anthony Davis continued his momentum against Minnesota this Saturday. His performance, however, did not allow the Lakers to win and was the subject of astonishing self-criticism on his part afterwards.
Since winning the In-Season Tournament, he is one of the rare members of his team who has little, if anything, to complain about. Over the last 10 games, Anthony Davis has posted incredible averages of 31.2 points (59.2% shooting, 52.9% 3-point), 11.8 rebounds and 2 blocks. And yet, the Angelinos have lost seven times over this period, including this Saturday in Minneapolis.
Anthony Davis uncompromising with himself
Coming out of the convincing victory obtained in Charlotte, during which he was able to save himself, Davis once again found himself in the oven and the mill against the Timberwolves. His 33 points, 17 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals were not enough, however.
No more than his enormous defensive slaughter, which notably saw him perform one of the most spectacular counterattacks of the year on Jaden McDaniels:
At first glance, AD could therefore primarily blame his teammates at the end of this lost meeting. However, he preferred to highlight one of his only failures:
It was a match that could have gone into overtime if we had equalized or whose outcome could have been different. In these cases, you think and think back to what you could have done better, whether as a team or individually. And as far as I’m concerned, the first thing that comes to mind are these two missed free throws, which is rare, very rare on my part.
No question for Unibrow to blame its partners despite its great performance. Instead, he prefers to rail against his failed pass on the free throw line… a little over 6 minutes from the end of the match, which would then have allowed the Lakers to equalize. Rest assured, Purple & Gold fans do not hold this against him in any way and rather regret the lack of help from which he may have suffered.
Team player par excellence, Anthony Davis is in no way satisfied with his performance in the defeat against the Timberwolves. On the contrary, he regrets two small missed free throws in the 4th quarter which could have turned things around.
