Amy Jackson and her fiancé Ed Westwick have made their first public appearance since announcing their engagement.

The couple attended the Vanity Fair EE Rising Star Party for the BAFTA Film Awards on Wednesday, after Ed revealed on Monday he’d popped the question on an idyllic Swiss getaway.

Amy cut a glamorous figure in a busty black velvet gown as she proudly posed with her husband-to-be, but opted to hide her diamond engagement ring under a pair of matching gloves.

The Bollywood star showed off her svelte phsique in the sexy dress, while Ed opted for a dapper matching suit.

The event was in celebration of the only category at the EE BAFTA Film Awards voted for by the public, ahead of the ceremony itself on February 18.

Ed proposed to Amy in G’staad, Switzerland, with the couple announcing their exciting news on Monday.

Adele Narcisi, Gemmologist & Design Expert at Queensmith previously revealed that Amy’s engagement ring is made from a natural diamond, it could be worth up to £100,000.

However, she noted that it’s more likely that the diamond was lab-grown, meaning it could actually be worth just a quarter of that.

She told MailOnline: ‘Amy Jackson’s engagement ring looks to be a stunning and timeless 4-carat oval solitaire diamond, a shape that has gained popularity in recent years.

‘Based on its size and if it is natural, this diamond is estimated to be worth around £90,000 to £100,000.

‘There are typically only a handful of top-quality four-carat natural diamonds available at any given time. Natural diamonds this size are a rarity.

With a natural diamond, we’d recommend sticking between grades D to F colour for an icey, colourless diamond, VS2 and higher clarity making sure there are no inclusions visible to the naked eye.

‘There’s no need to go higher than VVS2 as the diamond will cost far more but look more or less the same.

‘Excellent polish & symmetry grades for shapes like ovals guarantee the diamond will look sharp, sparkly beautifully, and have that classic, symmetrical oval shape.

‘Although it is really difficult to tell from the photos they’ve posted, the oval diamond looks like it might be a rubover set, meaning it is set with the metal pushed up and around the parameter of the diamond, rather than being traditionally set with claws.

‘Rub-over settings are an ultra-modern way to style your solitaire ring. They’re becoming increasingly popular for their unique look that breaks the boundaries of traditional style, yet remains very simple and refined.

‘However, given the rarity of this type of diamond with such characteristics, as size and high quality, there is a high chance that this particular diamond is lab-grown rather than naturally sourced.

‘A four-carat lab-grown ring in the UK is currently worth around £20,000 to £25,000.

‘Since their introduction to the market, lab-grown diamonds have been booming in popularity as consumers opt for a more affordable and sustainable alternative to natural diamonds.

‘In 2019, Queensmith’s lab diamond sales equated to just 1% of their overall diamond sales. Fast forward to 2024 and they are exceeding 80% of diamond sales.’

Ed and Amy took to Instagram on Monday to share the news of their engagement with their followers.

Taking to social media to share the news, the pair shared a slew of sweet snaps together, captioning the images: ‘Hell Yes [ring emoji].’

Ed starred as anti-hero and playboy Chuck Bass in hit U.S. drama Gossip Girl and fans were quick to joke that Chuck was finally settling down.

The university lecturer’s son, who was raised in Stevenage, Herts, met Amy a Bollywood star with a four-year-old son by an ex-boyfriend, at Silverstone racetrack in 2021.

A source told The Sun on Sunday at the time: ‘Ed and Amy are a really good match. They hit it off straight away.

‘Both like to have fun and are career-driven. They’re enjoying getting to know each other for now.’

The couple went Instagram official just before Valentine’s Day in 2022, with Amy penning a sweet note on her social media just in time for the occasion.
