One Piece fans were finally able to witness Luffy’s Gear 5 animated in the series. His new form is quite different from his previous transformations as it directly results from Devil Fruit’s awakening. This allows him to fight without any sort of limitations. 

Gear 5 is one of the most ridiculous powers ever shown in shōnen anime. It is quite a broken ability and it grants Luffy the power to transform anything into rubber. However, there are a handful of Devil Fruit users who are capable of beating Gear 5. Most of these characters use Paramecia Devil Fruit as they’re capable of using all sorts of superhuman abilities.

 

1. The Dark-Dark Fruit User Marshall D. Teach

The Dark-Dark Fruit used by Marshall D. Teach allows him to control the power of darkness. This is a Logia Fruit, and it makes Teach’s body tangible. That’s why he is prone to taking damage from physical attacks. This implies that Gear 5 Luffy can land powerful hits, but doing so could prove deadly.

The Dark-Dark Fruit allows Teach to cancel out the power of other Devil Fruits by simply making physical contact with the user. Even if Luffy used Gear 5 against him, Teach can cancel the transformation at any time.

2. The Dice-Dice Fruit User Daz Bonez

The highest-ranking officer at Baroque Works, Daz Bonez, uses the Dice-Dice fruit. He has the power to chop Gear 5 Luffy into pieces. This Devil Fruit grants him the power to transform any part of his body into a sharp steel blade. Considering how Daz is an excellent martial artist, this fruit is especially deadly.

He can slice through stones like a hot knife on butter. His body is almost made of steel, which makes him invulnerable to damage. Since cutting attacks can harm Luffy’s Gear 5 body, this Devil Fruit is the perfect melee counter.

 

3. The Paw-Paw Fruit User Bartholomew Kuma

Bartholomew Kuma consumed the Paramecia Devil Fruit called Paw-Paw Fruit. As seen in the series, he has paw pads on the palms of his hand, allowing him to push away anything that comes into contact with it. This defensive power is something that even Gear 5 can’t beat.

 

4. The Book-Book Fruit User Charlotte Mont-d’Or

Charlotte Mont-d’Or ate the Book-Book Fruit, a unique Paramecia that allows him to control the powers of books. This might sound like a stupid power at first, but he was able to trap both Luffy and Nami using this. In theory, Mont-d’Or can trap Luffy in another book while using Gear 5, and he would not be able to escape.

5. The Snip-Snip Fruit User Inazuma

The Snip-Snip Fruit is used by Inazuma, who is the deputy commander in the Revolutionary Army and works as Emporio Ivankov’s right-hand man. This Paramecia grants him the power to turn any part of his body into scissors. He can cut through anything as if it were paper, which means he can slice through Luffy’s rubber form.
