The insect’s clues led fans to speculate at a host of music stars
THE Masked Singer fans think Cricket could be a troubled trailblazing noughties rap star.
The human-sized insect made their debut on the show with Reef’s 90s anthem Place Your Hands.

The judging panel were up on their feet immediately as bat-wielding cricket players danced around the masked character.
One viewer commented on X: “Dizzee Rascal for #Cricket.”
Another posted: “Masked Singer Week 1 Guesses…
“Maypole = Fleur East
Cricket = Dizzee Rascal
Big Foot = Mr Tumble
Dippy Egg = Paul Whitehouse
Rat = Aggie MacKenzie”
Brit Award winner Dizzee, real name Dylan Mills, burst onto the scene in 2003 with his classic debut Boy In Da Corner.
The 39-year-old had a string of big chart hits such as Fix Up, Look Sharp, Dance Wiv Me, Bonkers, and Holiday with Calvin Harris.
However, his reputation was tarnished in 2022 when he was found guilty of shoving his partner of nine years Cassandra Jones following a “domestic dispute” about child contact.
Meanwhile other names in the frame to be Cricket include Levi Roots, Simon Webbe and Seal.
The latter is best known for his 90s ballad Kiss From A Rose.
The pop star started dating American-German model Heidi Klum in 2004 and the couple got married the following year.
They had three children together and Seal even adopted Heidi’s child from a previous marriage before the pair split in 2012.
There was also speculation that the critter was hiding Greg James.
After Cricket’s moment in the limelight, The Masked Singer judges also had some guesses about the character’s identity.
Davina McCall thought it could be Jay Blades, citing the “blades” of grass in his entrance VT as her reason.
The character then revealed his riddle, saying: “I hope my performance was bowling you over, like when I got dizzy while perched on a sofa.”
This left the panel confused and Jonathan Ross subsequently changed his pick to comedian Vic Reeves.
However, it seems that could be a red herring as the mystery celeb was left laughing when he returned backstage.
