The Golden State Warriors‘ Stephen Curry has found an unlikely source of aid in his desire to captain the NBA All-Star team… by turning to Swifties.

Taylor Swift‘s fans can be described as fanatics due to their intense devotion to the star including supporting those who also enjoy her talent, personality or interests and Curry is aiming to cash in on that.

Stephen Curry is challenging the worst, most durable stereotypes about black athletes.

He selected his favorite song of hers as, “You Belong With Me”, during which she sings about a man in a relationship that isn’t working out for him whilst her character waits for him to realize she is the one he needs. The track was released in 2009 and was co-written by Liz Rose.

In a post to X.com, formerly Twitter, by @WarriorsLatam, a fan account dedicated to the Warriors for Latin American followers who may not speak English, Curry sang the chorus of the song briefly.

Did you know?,” the account posted to the Elon Musk-owned site. “Steph Curry chose his favorite Taylor Swift song: ‘”You Belong With Me.”‘

“For that and much more we need your help, little Swiftie sisters. We have to make Steph captain of the All-Stars and we need them.”

The post attracted 48300 views and 1100 likes, whilst it gained 177 reposts from the social media platform’s users. It remains to be seen whether it will be enough for the iconic three-point shooter to captain the 2024 edition of the exhibition game.

Who do the Warriors play next?

The Warriors‘ most recent game was against the Boston Celtics which they won 132-126, marking their third consecutive victory as they finally show signs of life in the NBA season.

They’re now placed 11th in the Western Conference with a .481 record, up from .416 three games ago. They now trail the division leaders, the Minnesota Timberwolves, by eight wins.

Their next contest is against the Washington Wizards at the Chase Center on December 22.
