BBC viewers are left questioning why singer Peter Andre was asked to be a guest judge on Celebrity MasterChef: Christmas Special on Wednesday night.

The Mysterious Girl singer, 50, joined professional judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace on the festive special as the stars competed to win the golden whisk.

Peter was set to judge Love Island’s Faye Winter, Blue singer Duncan James, comedian Richard Blackwood and All Saints star Mel Blatt as they took to the famous kitchen once again.

The celebrities were tasked to prepare an Australian Christmas dish, with Faye opting for a passion fruit pavlova while Richard cooked BBQ prawns, Mel a cake and Duncan a vertical roast chicken.

Peter, who grew up in Australia, was very excited to be ‘transported’ back to a Christmas Down Under.

However fans were left confused why he was there, one wrote: ‘Why is Peter Andre a masterchef judge now? do they just let any Australian do that now? that’s insania’.

A second penned: ‘Celebrity Masterchef, Peter Andre judging a pan of s*** cooked by Duncan James from Blue. Who commissions this s***? I’m going to bed.’

Another added: ‘That build up and Peter Andre walks in. I’d leave. #masterchef #celebritymasterchef’.

Following the tasting, Peter departed the studio while the stars went on to create their version of a Christmas dinner followed by a dessert.

Reality star Faye admitted she was ‘knackered’ after she made an apricot and goats cheese nut roast and a sticky toffee pudding which John described as ‘banging’.

Mel left Gregg with ‘no complaints at all’ as he tasted her turkey ravioli roast however, when the judges tried her tiramisu they said her lady fingers were ‘to soggy’.

Richard had a slight disaster in the kitchen as his mash potato with his Caribbean spiced lamb was ‘lumpy’.

But he managed to impress John and Greg with his apple crumble though the judges did comment that he has ‘no presentation skills’.

Meanwhile Duncan pushed the boundaries as he cooked a turkey wellington followed by a sticky toffee pudding.

John and Gregg couldn’t hold back their excitement as they described the main course as ‘amazing and stunning’.

John said: ‘Exactly how everyone wants their turkey to be. Fantastic and I want to come to yours for Christmas’.

Following the nail biting competition the judges revealed that Duncan had won the Christmas special with his incredible meal.

Holding back tears, he said: ‘Wow! Thank you guys so much. I’m just so happy. This is one of the best things that has happened to me. I am truly buzzing and a bit emotional’.

He was quick to ring his family to tell them the exciting news, he said: ‘Mum I won. I can’t believe it I won.’
