Back at Warriors training, Draymond Green should return to the NBA courts in the days to come. The player is eagerly awaited by his teammates, but above all very closely watched because of his behavior. Steve Kerr was honest.
While the Warriors are still struggling in the Western Conference, the return of Draymond Green remains excellent news for the organization. Not sure that this is enough to reverse the trend, but Steph Curry’s teammates want to believe in a big second half of the season, always with one goal in mind: the ring. This is why Green’s presence is so important.
Steve Kerr’s warning for Draymond Green
But we also know that Draymond will be widely watched in the coming weeks. No more room for error on the inside, or he risks an exemplary sanction from the NBA, perhaps including a suspension for the end of the season in the event of another slip-up. At a press conference, Steve Kerr therefore wanted to clarify things with his player.
Steve Kerr : “There can’t be an explanation after an excuse. Otherwise these are not excuses. What the team wants in the future, and Draymond knows it, is that we don’t want any more “buts” in the future. An excuse is an excuse and we move on but he has to be able to learn from that. It’s basic behavior, but we need it. »
“We need him to be at his best. (…) Everyone is different. I don’t expect Draymond to become like Steph Curry or Tim Duncan. But he must gain humility, especially when he knows that he was wrong, that he made mistakes and that he put his team in danger. He knows it, we talked about it. »
Draymond remains Draymond and the Warriors don’t expect to get a brand new player back. However, the interior must learn to adapt its behavior, especially when we see the damage caused to the Warriors. Steve Kerr is expecting a change from him, in the hope of having a good second half of the season. Otherwise, Green’s career could be in danger.
Steve Kerr warns Draymond Green: his behavior must change, and quickly. Impossible for him to start again, especially when we see the impact on the Warriors’ season. Suffice it to say that the player will be closely monitored in the coming weeks.
