The Argentine team suffered heavy personnel losses in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers taking place this October.
The Argentine national team is suffering from a storm of injuries. In the third and fourth matches of the South American Qualifiers, coach Lionel Scaloni will be without 5 players due to injury including: Juan Foyth, Paulo Dybala, Angel Di Maria, Lisandro Martinez and Angel Correa.
The most notable absence is Angel Di Maria, who was injured last Tuesday in Benfica’s loss to Inter in the second round of the Champions League group stage. “Angel” will miss the matches against Paraguay and Peru this October.
Meanwhile, Angel Correa and Lisandro Martinez are the two remaining players who are usually on Scaloni’s list, but cannot be present due to injury. The Atletico Madrid striker is still not fully recovered from his knee sprain and although he took part in Atletico Madrid’s latest match, he still felt uncomfortable so he decided that it would be best to rest .

For his part, Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez had to have surgery again due to an injury to his right foot and will not be able to play for the remainder of 2023.
The remaining two players who will be absent from Scaloni’s squad are Juan Foyth and Paulo Dybala. The Villarreal defender dislocated his shoulder in the last match, but his absence was not only related to that reason: The player had just recovered from muscle pain, and the coach’s idea was to supplement Facundo Medina – someone who can play well on the left side.
As for Dybala, he was injured in Roma’s 4-1 win over Cagliari due to a serious injury in his left knee. A few hours later, TyC Sport confirmed this was the fifth absence of the Argentine team.
