LeBron James did not digest the referees’ decision following the Lakers’ defeat. He was understandably angry in the locker room, when discussing with journalists. A fine is never far away.
The Lakers lost amid controversy this Saturday evening against the Wolves. Two seconds from the end of the match, LeBron James was convinced he had equalized on a 3-pointer to force an overtime, before seeing the referees give him a 2-pointer.
A questionable decision when we see the replays again , and which did not fail to provoke a reaction from supporters on social networks.
LeBron James tackles the referees
As you might imagine, the Lakers weren’t very happy either when talking to reporters in the locker room. LeBron was quickly questioned by the media about this action, before tackling Tony Brothers and the other officials of the meeting. The Akron native unfortunately did not have the right to a nice birthday present.
LeBron James : “Obviously it’s a three-pointer. My foot is behind the line. I mean you can clearly see a gap between the 3-point line and my foot. You can see the wood of the parquet.
Even Stevie Wonder can see that. (…) What’s the point of having a replay? What’s the point of using it if you’re still wrong? Who is part of the replay center? Who is watching this? Are these robots making Teslas? What is happening ? »
Unsurprisingly, the other Lakers, including Anthony Davis, shared the same story in front of journalists. Unfortunately for them, the NBA will not reverse this decision, but it will share its opinion this Sunday during the famous “two minutes report”. No matter what happens, the Lakers lost this game and nothing will change that.
Note that Tony Brothers, one of the game referees, explained that the officials called a 2-pointer at the time of the basket. It would therefore have required conclusive proof to reverse the decision, which was not the case according to them. The scenario would have been different if the official had announced a 3 point during the action. It just goes to show that sometimes it doesn’t matter much.
LeBron James is angry after this decision by the referees, and it may last for a while. The fans are attacking the officials and suffice to say that the NBA report on this “incident” is eagerly awaited. We will know more during the day.
