Victim of a cardiac arrest a few months ago, Bronny has finally returned to the court. His NCAA debut was closely followed by LeBron James, who recently saw various journalists taking stock of the pair he could form with his son.
After the terrible incident that occurred during the summer, his future was the subject of many questions in the world of basketball. Bronny James finally showed self-sacrifice and was able to bounce back following his cardiac arrest.
Released by the doctors of his USC team, he was able to play his first minutes in the NCAA on Sunday, and we did not have to wait long to see him sign his very first highlight:
LeBron’s dream involving Bronny still alive?
Substitute at the start of the game, Bronny managed to accumulate 4 points, 3 rebounds and 2 blocks in 16 minutes. On the other hand, his Trojans were not able to win against Long Beach State (79-84).
The young back was, however, able to show himself to NBA scouts, who are still monitoring him with a view to the 2024 Draft. One of them, interviewed by Jeff Goodman of The Messenger , also revealed his current rating:
Everyone is hoping that Bronny stays healthy and impacts USC’s bottom line until the end of the season. (…) He is a very good defender, strong, athletic, who moves the ball well and who has potential as a shooter. However, he has limited ability to create his own shot. I don’t see him as a lottery pick, and maybe not even a first round pick.
Even if some experts do not consider Bronny capable of building a reputation worthy of a 1st-round pick, others have a view that differs on several points. For example, ESPN analyst Bobby Marks raises the possibility of seeing LeBron James ‘ son slip to the end of the first round, and potentially be selected by the Lakers to be reunited with the King:
What could be interesting is that he could land around the 20th pick and on teams that have several picks like Indiana or the Knicks. Of course, we will have to watch the Lakers. The Pelicans can recover their 1st round pick, but also prefer the 2025 pick. If this pick is the 23rd or 24th and the Lakers have it, they will perhaps take Bronny James to associate him with his father.
