Halle Berry attended the Razzie to accept her worst actress award for Catwoman, while also taking a dig at Warner Bros.

The early 2000s witnessed Halle Berry seeing the highest of the highs and the lowest of the lows. While the actress earned an Oscar win for her impeccable performance in Monster’s Ball, not long after garnering the accolade, she earned herself a Razzie for Worst Actress for 2004’s Catwoman.

Often regarded as one of the if not the worst DC outings of all time, there are several factors that make it such a big failure, ranging from the bad acting to its weak plot. And while the movie did take a toll on Berry’s career, the Oscar-winner didn’t back away from the criticism that came her way, as she appeared at the Razzie’s to accept the “award” in person.

Halle Berry Credited Warner Bros. In Her Razzie’s Acceptance Speech

Halle Berry received a louder pop pop while accepting the Razzie for Worst Actress as opposed to winning the Academy Award, who took the whole thing in a hilarious manner. Apart from joking about herself, following her work in the critically panned movie, she also took hilarious jabs at Warner Brothers. for giving her the opportunity to work in such a dumpster fire. In her speech, she states,
“I’ve got so many people to thank because you don’t win a Razzie without out a lot of help from a lot of people so please indulge me and just let me you know go through this home. First of all, I want to thank Warner Brothers, Thankyou for putting me in this Piece of sh-t, god-awful movie.”
Extending her sarcastic speech, she further gives credit to her co-stars and the writers, as the whole room bursts into laughter.

Halle Berry Doesn’t See Catwoman as a Failure for Her

While the Catwoman movie left a notable dent in her acclaimed career, Halle Berry doesn’t regret her decision to star in the DC movie, claiming that it helped her learn a lot of lessons. While she recalled that people around her warned her against starring in the superhero flick, the John Wick Star decided to follow her intuitions. And on top of learning new two forms of martial arts and what not to do, she also made a boatload of money, which she said “changed my life.” After accepting the Matrix Award from New York Women in Communication, she said,
“Everybody around me said, ‘Girl, don’t do it. It’s going to be the death of you. It’s going to end your career.’ But guess what I did? I followed my intuition and I did a movie called Catwoman and it bombed miserably. While it failed to most people, it wasn’t a failure for me because I met so many interesting people that I wouldn’t have met otherwise, I learned two forms of martial arts and I learned not what to do.”
