Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight
This is so rare of an occurrence that there was only one other superhero franchise that managed to achieve this. One would expect the answer to be something like Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man trilogy, or Chris Evans’ Captain America trilogy, however, the answer is a series much older and more unexpected. Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2, starring Tobey Maguire, managed to out do the original film from 2002.
Spider-Man 2 Managed To Out Do It’s Predecessor
Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy is one of the most memorable parts of the 2000s and there are many reasons for this. Not only did this film have an excellent directors, and performances, but it was the first live-action adaptation of the Spider-Man. What made this series even more fascinating was the fact that it broke one of the biggest curses in the superhero genre.
The second film from the series managed to out do the original. This is a impressive achievement, considering the fact that Noman Osborn, played by Willem DaFoe, was a perfect villain. Somehow, Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus managed to out do this, not only going head-to-head with the first film, but also managing to outperform it. This wasn’t the last series to do this, as Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy did exactly, a few years later.
Christopher Nolan Followed In Sam Raimi’s Footsteps
Christopher Nolan is as talented a filmmaker as one can get in the film industry, having some of the most immersive and captivating films of all time. The reason for their success is a lot more like their cast, cinematography, storylines, and visualization. His films, like Inception, Oppenheimer, Interstellar, and Dunkirk, stand out in front of all films, being unique in a perfect way. In front of all these distinct films lay three movies that can be called most out of character for the filmmaker. So much so that he would never make something like this ever again.
Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight
In the world of psychologically complex, intellectually stimulating, science-fiction movies, stands Nolan’s Batman trilogy. Three films about the Caped Crusader, gliding through the DC Universe, wearing the face of one Christian Bale. Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises, were all excellent film, turning into fan-favourites as soon as they hit the silver-screen. The first film did exceptionally well, however, The Dark Knight managed to out do this. There were many reasons for this, including the introduction of the Joker and the way Heath Ledger portrayed him.
