THE transformation of the Las Vegas Raiders has seemingly honed in on its latest victim.

Former All-Pro cornerback Marcus Peters is reportedly in line to be released by the Raiders as interim head coach Antonio Pierce continues to leave his mark on the team.

This follows the Raiders’ gut-wrenching 31-17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, which saw them blow a 14-0 lead.

Reportedly, this loss could mark the end of Peters’ brief stint in Las Vegas, as per The Athletic’s Vic Tafur.

Speaking to the media after their latest loss, Pierce bluntly told the media that benching Peters during the second quarter was a coach’s decision.

The report went on to claim that “there have been several instances this season when it looked like Peters gave minimal effort on some plays.”

In fact, Peters was supposedly nearly let go earlier in the year.

Drafted eighteenth overall out of Washington by the Chiefs in 2015, Peters wasted no time in leaving his mark on the NFL.

Named the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year, he was also named a Second-team All-Pro and reached the Pro Bowl during his first season in Missouri.

In his three years with the Chiefs, Peters reached two Pro Bowls and was named an All-Pro twice (once as a First-Teamer, once as a Second-teamer).

Subsequently dealt to the Los Angeles Rams, he starred for LA as they reached Super Bowl LII.

After losing to Tom Brady’s New England Patriots, Peters started the following season as a member of the Rams but was traded once again after just six games.

Now a member of the Baltimore Ravens, Peters continued his All-Pro form to close out the 2019 season.

Another two years in Maryland followed before Peters hit free agency.

He ultimately signed a one-year deal worth $3 million with the Raiders in 2023.

Now 30 years old and having made over $63 million during his illustrious career, Peters is supposedly set to enter free agency once more.
