Jennifer Lawrence is open to receive less than Leonardo DiCaprio, despite her advocacy for equal pay for all genders in Hollywood.
Jennifer Lawrence is one of the most respected names in Hollywood. She has starred in some extremely well-known projects like The Hunger Games film series, Red Sparrow, Silver Linings Playbook, and American Hustle, through which, she has established herself as not only a skilled and captivating actress but also an extremely versatile in the roles she picks, playing some incredibly different and unique characters.

Outside of being an exceptionally talented actress, Lawrence is also a very vocal supporter of equal pay for women. She spoke on this matter a number of times, expressing her frustration with her and many in her position not being fairly compensated for their work solely based on their gender, ethnicity, or sexuality. Despite this, the actress does not mind the fact that she was not paid as much as Leonardo DiCaprio was for their film, Don’t Look Up, and her reason may be valid.
Jennifer Lawrence Is Frustrated With The Wage Gap
Jennifer Lawrence gave a lengthy interview with Vogue where she went into detail about her frustrations with the fact that despite her being one of the most successful actresses of recent times, she is not being fairly compensated. Elaborating on this, the actress explained that she, and a majority of female actresses’s salaries, in and outside the film industry, do not match that of men in the same position, who are doing the same amount of work.

The actress voiced that she does not think it to be fair that she is not being paid what she has earned and deserved simply because of her gender. This problem runs deeper as there are been a huge number of instances where, despite the protagonist of a project being played by a female actress, they are paid less than their male co-stars, who are doing a fraction of the work compared to the actresses.
Jennifer Lawrence Does Not Mind Getting Paid Less Than Leonardo DiCaprio
Despite this, Jennifer Lawrence does believe and acknowledge that other factors, outside of gender, can affect the pay of actors and actresses. The perfect example of this would be the time she worked alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in their film, Don’t Look Up. Though Lawrence is a big name in Hollywood, it is nothing compared to that of DiCaprio.

“Leo brings in more box office than I do. I’m extremely fortunate and happy with my deal.”
This is something the actress agreed with, as she told Vanity Fair, stating that she understood that the actor brought a bigger viewership to the film compared to her, so it was understandable that he was paid more. She added that she was extremely grateful that she was a part of the project and did not mind that she was paid less than him.
