J-LO and Ben Affleck opted for couple tattoos to get their relationship back on track post-Grammys, a psychologist has suggested.

But he thinks the 50-something married Hollywood stars are behaving in an unusual and provocative way for their age.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck celebrated their first Valentine’s Day as a married couple by getting tattoos and sharing photos on social media.

J-Lo first took to Instagram on Tuesday, February 14, to debut her new ink.

The actress captioned her selection of images with the words “commitment” and “Happy Valentine’s Day my love.”

In her first image, J-Lo’s infinity sign tattoo included an arrow striking through the middle. It also looked like it’d recently been inked on the left side of her ribcage and was taped over.

The tattoo had “Jennifer” written on one side of the symbol and “Ben” on the other.

Meanwhile, Ben’s Instagram post showed a photo of his arm, where he had two overlapping arrows tattooed just below his armpit.

His tattoo had the letters “J” and “B” written on it.

In an exclusive interview, clinical psychologist Dr. Joshua Klapow, Ph.D. told The U.S. Sun: “I doubt that the couple tattoos were done on a whim.

“I would venture to say that given what came out of the Grammys, it may have pushed J-Lo and Ben over the edge to go and get them.

“I can promise you that they’ve talked about it and that they’ve thought through it.

“The circumstances of the Grammys may have tilted the scale and so J-Lo and Ben said, ‘Let’s go finally do this,’ or ‘Let’s do this now.

“And these tattoos will help our personal feelings for one another.’

“Showing them on social media tells me that there has been some conversation that has prompted them to make sure we all know they’re committed to one another.

“To some degree, there could be trouble in paradise here.”

J-Lo and Ben, 50, rekindled their romance after a 20-year hiatus after they called off their wedding in 2003, splitting a year later.

After getting engaged once again last April, the pair has since enjoyed two lavish weddings.

The couple has also been rigorously showing the world they’re closer than ever and meant to be.

And their latest efforts with the tattoos come in the wake of a possible relationship blip at the 2023 Grammys.

As the couple sat close to one another at a table in the Crypto.com arena in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 5, videos of Ben’s bored face took the internet by storm.

The Hollywood film director quickly became a meme on social media with the pair looking unhappy together, and J-Lo appearing to be the only one having fun.

“The tattoos are a statement about each other and the statements are not nuanced,” explained Dr. Klapow, who himself has tattoos.

“It may be a reaffirmation of their relationship and their importance.

“The fact that they got tattoos that are symbolic of each other isn’t too interesting but choosing to put it on social media is a different statement.

“So there could be some difficulty but not massive trouble.

“J-Lo and Ben seem to find it important for other people to think they’re dedicated to one another.

“Normally, you probably wouldn’t need to do that.”

The matching tattoos also aren’t a first for Ben Affleck.

Ben already has five tattoos inked on his body, including a huge one on his back that J-Lo had once referred to as “awful.”

In 2021, the Argo actor was pictured on the beach sporting the tattoo, which he at first claimed was fake.

Ben’s other smaller tattoos include a dolphin and a cross and flowers on his left bicep.

J-Lo has, until now, at the age of 53, been tattoo-free.

“Generally it’s not that controversial to have a tattoo at all,” reveals Dr. Klapow who created MentalDrive, a social media platform to help people live fulfilling lives.

“But this gets a little bit more interesting, given their age.

“It’s a chance for J-Lo and Ben to be a little more provocative.

“They’re 50-year-olds getting couple tattoos and you’d normally expect that from a 20-year-old.

“Or they could be 50-year-olds who have an interesting long-standing relationship and who said, what the hell, we’re going to go do it and we’re going to do it now.

“Getting a tattoo when you’re 50 and from a different generation is typically more personally meaningful.

“But given their age and how long they’ve known each other, they have no need to show the world that they’re in love through tattoos.”
