The Admiral’s companies are “valued at more than $3 billion.”
NBA Hall of Famer David Robinson won two championships on the court, but he’s doing even better for himself financially in retirement.
The San Antonio Spurs legend launched two multi-billion private equity funds after a successful NBA career where he made over $110 million in contracts.

After retiring from basketball in 2003, Robinson wasted no time on his post-retirement career.
Robinson, nicknamed The Admiral, was unlike most NBA stars today, graduating with a four-year degree from the United States Naval Academy, eventually putting his knowledge to the test in retirement.
He used his wits to found Admiral Capital, a real estate firm, in 2007.
“The primary reason to start Admiral Capital Group was to create a larger platform to impact the community,” Robinson said to Forbes when speaking on the company.
“It was a way to sustain the work I was doing in San Antonio, but also allowed me to work with other communities.
The company profitably raised over $115 million and acquired $350 million worth of assets, making them a powerhouse in the business.
Additionally, Admiral Capital Real Estate Fund 2 launched in 2015 with $50 million in committed capital.
To help him with his efforts, Robinson partnered with former Goldman Sachs investment banker Dan Bassichis for both of the funds.
In November 2022, Robinson and Bassichis announced that Admiral Capital group was rebranding as Vero Capital, also revealing their funds have “deployed more than $700 million of capital in transactions valued at more than $3 billion.”
Today, the former 10-time All Star has a net worth of over $200 million.
With the rebrand, Robinson also shared he was taking a reduced role, stepping back from the day-to-day fund operations to focus entirely on philanthropic endeavors.
Philanthropically, The Admiral founded and funded the Carver Academy, now IDEA Carver, a public charter school in San Antonio.
He’s still an active member of the school board and participates in day-to-day festivities.
