A single mother who was trolled after appearing on Channel 5‘s Rich Kids Go Skint, has revealed why she spends thousands on her son every month.

Jodie Weston, 30, from London, took part in the show in 2018, and has since become a professional DJ with over 217,000 followers.

She admitted she refuses to go on cheap holidays, and one of her recent jaunts was a £7,000 trip to Disneyland Paris to celebrate her son Koa’s first birthday.

Despite being ‘judged’ by other ‘jealous’ mums, she also spends £1,000 a month on clothes, baby toys and food hampers for her son.

With the cost of living crisis set to impact families as the weather gets colder, the mother-of-one has shared why there are some things she just won’t compromise on.

The influencer, who also recently appeared on Channel 5’s Rich Holiday Poor Holiday, said: ‘I think if you’ve got it flaunt it!’

Jodie, who says she is ‘disciplined’ with her money, recently spent £7,000 on a four-day trip to celebrate her tot’s first birthday, and also splashes thousands on him every month by purchasing toys and designer’s clothes.

She added: ‘I believe in living within your means and if you can afford a bit of luxury, then why not?

‘My son is my only child so I guess I just want to enjoy these precious memories because they’re a first for me.

‘Life has obviously become more expensive but I’m disciplined with what I spend money on and careful not to get into debt so I can afford these glam trips.’

A week ago, the duo travelled first class on the Eurostar to Paris – with a premium ticket costing £275 one way per person in October- staying in a suite at a Disneyland hotel.

And they’re heading to Budapest next, for a weekend-long city break in a five-star hotel.

Jodie said: ‘We stayed in a suite in one of the Disneyland hotels, had a private dining experience with the characters, travelled first class on the Eurostar, had extra time in the park before it opened – which is exclusive to guests of the hotel only – a VIP tour, and lived it up with champagne and cheese boards for the stay.

‘We are about to have a long weekend city break in Budapest, staying in a glam five-star hotel and enjoying the sites, flying first class and using the first class lounge beforehand.

‘Everyone who knows me, knows I don’t like to live a ‘normal’ life, I was born to be a unicorn.

‘So I had a lot of the: ”Who takes their son to Disneyland for his first birthday?” comments – but the people who matter were like, ”Just do what you want to do”.

‘I really believe in living your life for your own happiness and not just to follow social norms.

‘My son had a great time and I had a great time seeing him smile, so it was a success for me.’

She said: ‘Yeah, other mums judge me; I mean I’m a DJ and a mum, that in itself is a clash of two complete opposite lifestyles. That’s enough to put people off me.

‘I do get nice compliments too. I’ve been stopped loads recently with my pram with mums saying they wish they’d looked as glam as me when they had a baby.

‘Of course, jealousy is a big thing, as is ‘mum shaming’, which is something I absolutely despise and annoyingly often comes from other women.

‘Some women even act like you’re being selfish for working with a baby, but I need to bring in money and make sure my son’s future is secure.’

Apart from holidays, Jodie also likes to buy her son nice things; despite his young age, the toddler has quite an impressive wardrobe – stuffed with brands like Moschino, Ralph Lauren and Armani.

She said that other mums judge her because she is a DJ and a mum, saying ‘that in itself is a clash of two complete opposite lifestyles’

She admitted her DJ lifestyle is ‘enough to put other mums off her’ but she needs to bring in money and make sure her son’s future is secure

Jodie said: ‘I’ve bought a few sets of Moschino pyjamas, which are £150 each.

‘Koa also has Ralph Lauren T-shirts and Armani and Dolce & Gabbana tracksuits, which are £250 each.’

She added: ‘He also enjoys food hampers from Fortnum & Mason, with fresh produce.

‘I spend about a grand a month on him for clothes, baby toys and food hampers.’
