Henry Cavill’s future as James Bond is not set in stone, as he might be getting ready to lead another franchise.

While the whole world may be looking at the former DCEU star with anticipation about what his next major project may be, Henry Cavill has been covertly plotting the next moves for his career. With his upcoming film Argylle, the star is set to take on the role of a secret service agent, which has further pushed his candidacy for the next James Bond in the 007 franchise in the eyes of the public.

And with the fact that the star was not associated with any major cinematic franchise further bolstered his chances of becoming the next Agent 007. But the latest news coming from Lionsgate might suggest that the star might not become the British superspy after all as he gears up to lead the Highlander franchise with director Chad Stahelski.

While he may have left two of his most iconic roles behind in the form of Superman from the now-discontinued DCEU as well as Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s The Witcher series, a bright future is finally starting to manifest for Henry Cavill. With so many rumored and upcoming projects in the industry, there’s a lot to look forward to from the star.

But at the moment, the world got a welcome surprise when Lionsgate announced that they will be reviving a forgotten franchise named Highlander, and Cavill will be the one who becomes the face of it.

In a recent report by Deadline, the studio that created the legendary John Wick franchise is all set to revive the film mentioned above that featured the original James Bond star, Sir Sean Connery. On top of that, the proposed franchise will also be helmed by filmmaker Chad Stahelski, who was the vision behind Keanu Reeves’ invulnerable assassin.

The report comes from the company putting the title of the reboot on the American Film Market for prospectors and interested parties to have a look at. Since the project is coming up with a big budget in mind, it will need all the support it can get. Stahelski has also stated in the past he would have loved to do John Wick with swords, and this may be the perfect outlet for him to fulfill that wish.

But this has many people concerned about the Enola Holmes star’s future as James Bond in the film industry, previously led by Daniel Craig. Since the aforementioned project will be another commercial franchise, people are worried that the star may be out of the running in the race of 007 since he has attached himself to the Highlander reboot project.

The future is not set in stone though, as there may be a chance that the star can be part of both franchises at the same time, only strengthened by the public’s wish to see him as the new James Bond.

While many may question why Cavill may choose to become part of an old franchise such as Highlander, hearing the plot and storyline may inform you that this is right up the star’s alley.

The original film follows the tale of Russell Nash, who fights an enemy in a NYC parking lot with an ancient weapon. In the process of defeating his enemy, a shard of that weapon is left behind, which is then picked up by a forensic expert. With this, the expert and her partner go on a hunt to seek the truth from Nash, only to be sucked into an age-old war between immortals.
