Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, which was released in 2001, marked the start of one of the most lucrative film franchises in history. The Harry Potter film series has grown to be one of the most successful Warner Bros. properties owing to its widespread fame. The series has admirers of all backgrounds and ages, which has helped it make absurd sums of money during the course of its eight-film run.
While Potterheads around the world are still coping with the end of the saga, there are certain actors in the Hollywood industry that aren’t that big of a fan of the franchise. Anthony Mackie, the star of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, recently voiced his displeasure with the franchise in a media interview saying that there is a lack of diversity and inclusion in the Harry Potter series.
Anthony Mackie’s issue with the Harry Potter Franchise

In a recent interview with Inverse, MCU star Anthony Mackie discussed his upcoming project Sparks, a film that talks about the unrecognized efforts of Claudette Colvin in the Civil Rights Movement. Mackie went on to criticize one of the most beloved franchises, saying that Harry Potter movies did not have any prominent Black actors and thus lacked representation.
“Harry Potter had no f—ing Black friends. Frodo walked across the entire universe and never met a Black dude. I want to see Frodo in the hood, which if I ever do Saturday Night Live is going to be a skit I’m going to do.”
One can’t argue the fact that Harry Potter has played a significant role in developing the filmmaking industry. Nevertheless, it isn’t flawless.
Harry Potter reboot to hire a more diverse cast
Harry Potter
As Max reveals a ten-year order to convert it into a series, Harry Potter is expected to make a comeback. According to reports, the Harry Potter television revival would make an effort to employ POC performers, making Hogwarts more racially diverse than it was in the movies.
The recently announced Harry Potter TV adaptation is reportedly prioritizing diversity this time around, according to industry insider Jeff Sneider of The Hot Mic podcast. According to Sneider, there has been a “concerted effort” to cast “more people of color” in the series, which has grand ambitions to recast all seven books. He added that “some Harry Potter writers” who worked on the series might possibly be people of color. Sneider especially mentioned the possibility of a person of colour portraying Hermione Granger in the next series.
