Jamie Lynn Spears quit I’m a Celebrity after 48 hours of non-stop rain in the jungle, the show’s latest evictee Nick Pickard has revealed.

Britney Spears‘s younger sister, 32, sensationally left the camp last Wednesday claiming it was on ‘medical grounds’ but Nick has now disclosed that the stormy weather pushed her over the edge.

The Hollyoaks star, 48, said: ‘We had 12 days of rain and once for 48 hours it did not stop. That was the night Jamie Lynn went. She had told them before that she was going on her medical grounds.’

Viewers had seen the Disney child star cry on numerous occassions in the jungle as she told how she was missing her daughters Maddie, 15, and Ivey, five, which contributed to her swift departure.

ITV bosses previously told the Mail they were desperately hoping for a spell of good weather to boost morale after thunderstorms lashed the jungle for two weeks.

Nick confirmed on Thursday that the awful conditions on this year’s show played a factor in the Zoey 101 actress’ departure.

Speaking about the night that Jamie Lynn quit, the actor said: ‘That was the worst night by far because it was 48 hours nonstop.

‘When the lightning comes to camp, you have to go into the Bush Telegraph because it’s the only place reinforced with steel.

‘So we were all in there for ages and that’s when Jamie Lynn had the old “oh my God” moment.’

Earlier that day, Jamie Lynn appeared near breaking point as she said: ‘I hate it here so much. I hate it, I hate it, I hate it here.

‘This place is where people go to have the worst days of their lives.’

It was alleged exit talks were ongoing for days prior between ITV executives and her management, who were able to support her for 11 days on the show – delaying her leaving.

Jamie Lynn appeared in the finale of Dancing with the Stars on Tuesday night despite claiming to have withdrawn from the I’m a Celebrity on ‘medical grounds’.

The Hollyoaks star, 48, said: 'We had 12 days of rain and once for 48 hours it did not stop. That was the night Jamie Lynn went. She had told them before that she was going on her medical grounds'

She shared a picture of herself reuniting with pro dancer Alan Bersten, writing: ‘Still not 100% but I had to show up for my guy.’

ITV bosses were aware she quit from celebrity SAS after just three weeks on the show earlier in the year and took dim view of the decision.

Nick was greeted by his girlfriend Sarah Corrin on the bridge on Wednesday, after he became the latest campmate to be eliminated.

He lost out to Josie Gibson in the public vote after they both unexpectedly came in the bottom two.

As he walked across the iconic bridge, he was reunited with his girlfriend Sarah, who embraced him in a sweet hug.

The couple live together in Liverpool but their relationship has remained out of the public eye.

They have been dating for several years and Sarah was the first family member to arrive in Australia last week to support Nick.

Nick Pickard becomes latest candidate to be eliminated from jungle

She told MailOnline she has been begging family and friends to vote the soap star for his first Bushtucker Trial.

‘I’ve still yet to see him do a Bushtucker Trial and all my friends and family are like, “What shall we do?” And I keep saying, “Vote! Vote” and people are like you’re not meant to vote him in but I think we are! I think he’d enjoy it,’ she said.

Nick is the longest-running soap actor on Hollyoaks – playing Tony Hutchinson for 28 years and Sarah said: ‘It’s nice people get to see the Nick part of him and not just Tony. But you haven’t seen all of him yet.

‘I’ve wanted him to do it for years. He’s very competitive and a good team player so that’s why I’ve always said, out of all the things he could do, I’m A Celebrity would be a good one for him.’

‘I’m really surprised I haven’t seen him have a hunger tantrum. He is the most positive upbeat person you’ll ever meet but don’t mess with him and his food.

‘When people are going off for the Trials he’s like ‘Don’t worry if you don’t get all the stars’ but I know on the inside he’s like inside, ‘You have to get all the stars’.’

This week Sarah said she is also enjoying Nick’s newfound status after noticing his popularity surge on TikTok, with a number of videos being made about ‘fit Nick.’

She told MailOnline: ‘I’ve had people sending me stuff saying that Nick is a heartthrob. Which is a surprise, well, not a surprise to me because I think he’s gorgeous but he’s got a whole new following.’

Though he has not had much airtime, Nick has caught the eye of viewers who shared their admiration of him on TikTok, branding him the ‘fittest’ on this year’s show.

Clips edited on the social media platform of Nick on the show are reaching up to 30,000 likes with people commenting, ‘Wow, I’m in love with him.’

Sarah continued: ‘This girl put up a poll on Instagram. One option was “I find Nick weirdly fit” and the majority had clicked that.’

‘I commented that I agreed but said “less of the weird please”,’ she joked.

‘Then she privately messaged me and must have seen my Instagram supporting him and said: “Oh, are you a fan?”.

After his exit on Wednesday, Nick joined Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly to look back on his jungle journey.

He grinned as he arrived to speak to the co-hosts and admitted he was happy to be leaving because he felt like his time on the show had come to an end.

He revealed it was his family who persuaded him to go on the ITV show as he said he was pleased to have finally taken part after more than 20 years on Hollyoaks.

‘I’ve never been asked before, it was an honour to be asked… it was great, it was so much fun,’ he gushed.

‘For me, I did the show for my family, they all wanted me to do it. I’ve never been asked before and it’s a lifetime experience. I didn’t do it to show who I am, I know who I am and that’s what’s important.’

Nick added that he is rooting for Made In Chelsea’s Sam Thompson to win the 2023 series as he heaped praise on his campmate and co-chef.

‘[Sam] deserves it, well they all deserve it, but he does and I think he really wants to… Sam’s the lifeblood in there, it would be the same without him, he’s got so much energy,’ Nick said.
