Corenswet has a similar appearance to Cavill and has been praised for his potential as Clark Kent.

David Corenswet is all set to succeed Henry Cavill as our new Superman in James Gunn’s DCU. While it can’t be said that the fans are very happy with the exit of Cavill as the Last Son of Krypton, Corenswet looks promising as the next version of the superhero. As a new photo of the actor training for Superman: Legacy goes viral, many fans were left confused if it was Cavill.

It can’t be denied that David Corenswet has large shoes to fill for the upcoming movie. However, he has always proved to be an amazing potential for Clark Kent because of his appearance. Many fans criticized James Gunn for firing Cavill and hiring a man who looked like him. But there’s also a certain section that hopes him to do better.

Does David Corenswet look like Henry Cavill?

Since David Corenswet joined the DCU slate for Superman: Legacy, there has been an ongoing debate surrounding his resemblance to Henry Cavill. But what many fans forget is the fact that starting from Christopher Reeve to Corenswet, all are considered the best due to their similarity with the DC Superhero.

Recently, personal trainer Paolo Mascitti took to his Instagram to release a new photo of the Pearl actor training for Superman: Legacy.

Even though the photo is fully covered, David Corenswet looks fully jacked up for the role. It can be noticed that the actor has gained a lot and some fans openly commented how he looked exactly like Henry Cavill in the photo. As the photo went viral on the internet, several tweets stated how avid fans were even confused if it was Cavill or Corenswet.

The fans confused David Corenswet with Henry Cavill

David Corenswet has stated his admiration for the character long before his casting in the DCU. He was an avid fan of Henry Cavill‘s portrayal of the superhero though he wasn’t a fan of the approach taken by Zack Snyder. He wanted a more optimistic Kal-El who would be a beacon of hope rather than the gloomy approach taken in the DCEU.

Interestingly, many people on the internet confused Corenswet’s picture with the Enola Holmes star and stated how the former looks very much like the former Superman. Take a look at some of the tweets:

James Gunn has also taken a similar approach to the story of the caped Kryptonian just as Corenswet stated. The movie will present a more light and optimistic side of the superhero that we couldn’t get in the SnyderVerse. Superman: Legacy will skip the superhero’s origin story as well. It will show how he manages his superhero side along with his human side.

It will be interesting to watch if David Corenswet and Superman: Legacy can successfully surpass the former casting of the face of the DCU. On the other hand, it also has the gargantuan responsibility of setting up the new superhero universe which makes it a very important project.

Superman: Legacy also stars Rachel Brosnahan along with Corenswet and will be released on July 11, 2025.
