With Goddard being considered to board the Spider-Man 4 production, one major possibility arises.

Ever since the end of the iconic Spider-Man trilogy in the MCU, fans are beginning to miss the absence of Tom Holland in the franchise as the titular character. Making splashes across the world with his portrayal of the friendly neighborhood web-slinger, the star became the face of the superhero for generations to come.

On the bright side, as Sony gears up to start production of the now-confirmed Spider-Man 4, it seems like we might just see the star back in action very soon. But not just that, it’s now also being rumored that Drew Goddard, the man behind creating the iconic Daredevil series for Netflix, is being considered for the film as well, which increases the chances of Charlie Cox teaming with Spider-Man in the upcoming film.

After the release of 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans were given the proper ending to the exceptional Spider-Man trilogy that Marvel Studios created. Thus, Tom Holland was seen for the last time as his web-slinging self in the franchise. But with recent developments within the company as well as with Sony, it seems like a sequel was always in the still-developing picture.

To ensure that the film will live up to the legacy of its predecessors, Sony may be aiming to go above and beyond what people can expect from the upcoming project.

In a recent report by industry insider Daniel Richtman, it was stated that Sony, who will be the main force behind the production of the upcoming film, is seeking to bring Drew Goddard aboard the project as the director. It is said that he may be one of the top choices for the company if filmmaker Jon Watts decides he doesn’t want to return for the sequel.

Drew Goddard is reportedly between Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios’ choices to direct ‘SPIDER-MAN 4’ in case Watts doesn’t come back.

Since Goddard is famous for creating and running Netflix’s 2015 Marvel series Daredevil, he has an amazing resume to present to Sony if he wants to bag this chance. Along with that, there can also be the possibility of Charlie Cox making a significant appearance in Spider-Man 4, only bolstered by his unexpected yet highly-appreciated cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

With the rights to Spider-Man going back to Sony after the last film, it became a question of what they could do with the superhero’s return.

Many fans have suggested that there are, in fact, a lot of possibilities that can come true in the near future, the most prominent of which being Spider-Man’s face-off with Venom. Along with that, as it is also being reported that Kevin Feige might be lending his aid in this endeavor, we can see another crossover between the MCU characters and Sony’s Spiderverse.
