More than 20 years after first embarking on the fan-favorite The Onyx Hotel Tour, Britney Spears branded the tour ‘too sexual’ and ‘stupid.’

Spears, 41, embarked on the provocative tour in March 2004, two years after she had split with Justin Timberlake.

Despite many fans claiming the tour featured some of her best live performances, Spears dismissed the tour in her new book The Woman In Me as, ‘too sexual’ and ‘stupid.’

She added that she embarked on the sexualized tour because her ex Justin Timberlake had spoken about their sex life and claimed she cheated on him.

This comes just hours after an exclusive Daily Mail report revcals Timberlake has not reached out to Spears about the book, but isn’t happy about how he’s portrayed.

Spears embarked on the tour in March 2004 in support of her 2003 album In the Zone, which spanned 54 shows.

Spears was forced to cut the tour short after injuring her knee in Moline, Illinois, and another knee injury in Manhattan, with the tour halting in June 2004.

The singer recalled in her book The Woman In Me that the tour was, ‘was too sexual, for a start,’ adding it was, ‘rough.’

Two years earlier, Spears had broken up with Justin Timberlake, with the singer revealing in the book that her sexually-charged tour was a measure of revenge.

‘My rebuttal onstage was to kind of go there a little bit. But it was absolutely horrible. I hated it in the moment,’ Spears says in the book.

She went on to call the tour ‘stupid’ and confessed that she would pray every night that she would break a bone to get her to stop the tour.

While she didn’t break a bone, her knee injury on the set of her Outrageous music video shoot did in fact lead to her canceling the last two months of the Onyx tour.

‘I felt like I’d been manipulated into going straight back to work after the breakup with Justin, because it was all I knew,’ Spears writes in the book, which was published on Tuesday.

‘The Onyx tour was a mistake. But in my mind I thought I should just do what I was supposed to do, which was work,’ she said.

The tour was a critical success, with Billboard reporting the tour grossed nearly $19 million from 25 North American shows and $34 million from 54 worldwide shows.

She also admitted in her book that a run-in with Timberlake backstage at the 2007 VMAs lead to a ‘panic attack’ before her chaotic routine.

There was also recently-unearthed footage of Spears pulling off a flawless routine in rehearsals before the Timberlake run-in.
