Victor Wembanyama attempted to disguise himself as Santa – with mixed results

VICTOR Wembanyama has gone undercover as the big man himself ahead of the holidays.

The 19-year-old French sensation recently donned the big red suit and beard to hand out gifts to kids in his adopted hometown.

In a video released by the San Antonio Spurs, Wembanyama could be seen being fitted with a padded suit underneath his new fit.

“I sure don’t hope the kids actually believe I’m Santa,” he commented, adding: “But, at least they can have a little bit of fun. And I’m having some fun too.”

Working in tandem with The Elf Louise Christmas Project, Wembanyama headed to the homes of local children to “spread some holiday cheer” as per the Spurs.

By his side throughout was Spurs teammate Julian Champagnie, who was dressed as one of Santa’s elves.

Fans loved seeing this side of Wembanyama, although, at 7-foot-4, the disguise wasn’t entirely effective.

One such fan tweeted: “The Tallest Santa to Ever Live.”

A second asked: “How you find a Santa suit to fit his big ahh.”

As a third added: “This is so fire. Imagine you got Wemby himself dressed up as Santa in your living room.”

While another said simply: “This is beautiful.”

Drafted first overall out of Metropolitans 92 in France, Wembanyama entered the NBA with sky-high expectations.

Through his first 22 games, he has averaged 19.3 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 2.5 assists.

On Wednesday, during the Spurs’ 122-119 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, Wembanyama racked up an impressive 30 points, thirteen rebounds, and two assists.

But while Wembanyama has stood out, the Spurs’ struggles have continued.

They currently sit bottom of the Western Conference at 3-10 – the NBA’s second-worst record.
