Golden State Warriors’ suspended star Draymond Green is reportedly engaged in periodic virtual meetings to assess his progress toward reinstatement.
These Zoom meetings involve team, league, and union officials, aiming to evaluate Green’s development in addressing issues contributing to his recent violent episodes with opponents and a former teammate.
The suspended player has been described as open and engaged during these sessions, involving his agent, team officials, and representatives from the NBA and NBPA.
According to ESPN, the ongoing meetings are part of the conditions set by the NBA for Green’s return, following his indefinite suspension for punching Phoenix’s Jusuf Nurkic on December 12.
Financial loss for the Warriors
While Green is allowed to take part in conditioning sessions and practice with the Warriors, his return to regular team activities is not expected before early January.
The suspension is anticipated to cover approximately 11 to 13 games, barring setbacks. Green’s contract, worth $100 million over four years, incurs a financial loss of $153,941 for every suspended game.
Despite becoming eligible for the suspended list after five games, the Warriors have not indicated a desire to sign a replacement player.
Green, a key player in the Warriors’ dynasty, has been ejected three times this season, prompting concerns about his on-court behavior.
One of those ejections was for for a scuffle involving Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert. During a scuffle, Green put Gobert in a chokehold, which resulted in a five-game suspension.
