These previously unseen pictures of the King of Pop show his life journey from young singing sensation to seasoned superstar, charting a dramatic change in his looks because of his extensive cosmetic surgery.

They are behind-the-scenes images which accompany a new, revelatory book which documents his meteoric rise and runaway career.

But these candid snaps show the megastar off guard and in the wings while working and recording his hit albums Off The Wall, Thriller, Bad and HIStory.

And there are outtakes from the cover shoot for his classic 1979 album Off The Wall, taken at the Griffith Observatory in California.
