By the time of his death, Michael Jackson’s body had been ravaged by a litany of serious health issues

For decades Michael Jackson’s slim, athletic body saw him perform ground-breaking dance feats that few have been able to emulate.

But by the time the star died from a prescription drug-induced cardiac arrest in 2009, his once healthy frame had been withered by ill health.

Weighing just 8st 10oz, Jackson’s autopsy revealed how his lungs were horrifically scarred – possibly by an autoimmune condition – while his hips, thighs and shoulders were covered in what appeared to be injection marks.

A cocktail of prescription drugs were found in his system including the sedative propofol which ultimately killed him, as well as another drug called Flomax.

When Jackson’s doctor, Conrad Murray, was later tried and convicted of the star’s manslaughter for administering the fatal dose of propofol, he revealed what the purpose of the other drug was.

Despite only being 50, Jackson was apparently suffering from an enlarged prostate, meaning he ‘took hours to urinate’. The drug shrank his prostate, allowing the star to use the toilet more freely.

However, Murray claimed the Jackson 5 singer was also incontinent and would constantly leak urine which is why, the shamed doctor said, Jackson always wore black trousers.

And a night time, Murray would put a condom on his patient in a bid to keep his bedsheets dry.

“You want to know how close Michael and I were? I held his penis every night,” he told the Mail On Sunday in 2013.

“I had to put a condom catheter on him because Michael dripped urine. He had a loss of sensation and was incontinent.”

He continued: “Michael didn’t know how to put a condom on, so I had to do it for him.

“He wore dark trousers all the time because after he went to the toilet he would drip for hours.”

It also emerged that there was another reason why Jackson always wore his iconic white socks.

Murray claimed he was actually hiding a pair of feet that had been deformed by agonising callouses and a fungal infection, so much so that they looked like they were rotting.

He said the star was so obsessed with privacy that for years he refused to let anyone see his feet, let alone treat them.

Instead, Jackson developed an addiction to painkillers that would prove fatal when he suffered a cardiac arrest sparked by the anesthetic propofol in June 2012. Murray was later jailed for four years for involuntary manslaughter for improperly administering the fatal dose, although he continues to maintain his innocence.

Describing Jackson’s feet in his 2016 autobiography, This Is It, Murray wrote: “(They) were covered in callouses… and had an advanced chronic fungal infection. It turned out he always wore socks because he was so ashamed of the way his feet looked.

“I suggested he needed a podiatrist. A day after his feet were treated, he was amazed he could walk and dance without pain.

“Later I prescribed anti-fungal medications to clear the infection. It was a complete success. Meanwhile, I personally administered regular lotions and massages to remove the rough skin.

“The fact Michael’s feet, something critical to him, were in such poor condition was a sign not only had he neglected himself but those around him were not keeping a close eye on his wellbeing.”

Meanwhile, Jackson’s feet weren’t the only secret the star apparently kept.

According to friends of the late singer, his high-pitched voice was actually fake, with some claiming that behind closed doors he spoke with a ‘deep’ voice.

As the story goes, his softly-spoken manner was a direct result of his father Joe allegedly forcing him to undergo ‘chemical castration’ when he was just 13 in a bid to delay puberty and keep his singing voice high.

Murray, 67, claimed Jackson told him he’d been given hormone injections as a teenager, but made him swear never to tell anyone.

However, Jackson’s good friends Liza Minnelli and David Gest once contradicted his account, letting slip that the star had a second, secret voice.

“I think people don’t know the real him. He doesn’t talk like [that],” the David told US chat show host Larry King in 2002.

Like everyone else, Liza believed his high-pitched tone was real and said she got a shock when she picked up the phone one night and heard him talking to husband David in his real voice.

“I said, Michael, you’re busted. I got you now. All these years you’ve been talking that voice,” she recalled.

So what was his ‘real voice’ like? In 2005, Court TV’s Diane Dimond said Jackson actually had a ‘big, deep’ sound.

“Somewhere in there, especially if you bring him bad news or if you make him mad, his voice gets very, very deep,” she told Access Hollywood.

“I was there one day when someone asked him about Gloria Allred, the attorney that has sort of dogged him and turned around in one foul swoop and said ‘She can go to hell’ in this big, deep masculine voice.”

And Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan corroborated her story, claiming the star once let his secret tones slip during a telephone interview.
