Kobe Bryant is no stranger to the Laker folklore. In fact, we can go as far as to say that he IS the Laker folklore. A legend whose name will forever be linked to the NBA’s most iconic franchise, Kobe’s name was worth its weight in gold.

The previous statement is true even if the name is associated with real estate. Yes, say there’s a property with a big price tag and you simply say, “Kobe Bryant once almost brought it” or “Even Kobe Bryant couldn’t buy it”.

The potential buyer’s curiosity will be piqued at the very least. And that is exactly what an agent did when he wanted to sell a house. A $13.5 million property that Kobe himself wanted to buy? Why wouldn’t buyers be curious?

Kobe Bryant and his wife Vanessa Bryant wanted to buy a sprawling $13.5 Million house

Right after winning his second championship Kobe Bryant and Vanessa Bryant had just gotten married, and they wanted to buy a house.

What better way to celebrate your life and marriage than to purchase a $13.5 million home in Coto de Caza? Not a lot we suppose but to dole out such sums of cash would be a tough ask for anyone.

Sure, it was a sprawling 14,000 sq. ft. home but it came with a lot of eccentric touches, ones that we think the Bryants didn’t particularly enjoy.

The house came with an eccentric pirate theme

It had everything, from a billiard room to a home theatre to a wood and copper ceiling. It also had 9 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms.

But where it felt a little off-color was around the fact that it had a theme park-like ground that had bizarre attractions such as a lookout tower and an entertainer’s pavilion.
11What’s more, it also had a private lake that housed a private ship with adornments that made it feel like a water park. The owner was eccentric.

Kobe and Vanessa cited business issues and backed out. They eventually brought another property at less than a third of the price.

Bryant’s name can still sell or at worse, it will at least make people curious. Just like us.
