Michael Jordan is a name the entire world knows today. Synonymous with the sport of basketball, Jordan has achieved the very height of professional success in the game. With six championships to his name, Michael Jordan is undeniably the greatest of all time. Owner of the Charlotte Hornets today, there is no denying Jordan’s professional as well as financial success. Updated April 2023: Basketball rivalries come and go depending on the teams dominating and the best players on such teams. In the ’90s, one of the biggest rivalries was between the legendary Michael Jordan and a young Shaquille O’Neal. Although Jordan ended up being the greatest basketball player of all time in many people’s eyes, Shaq still had a wonderful career, winning four rings in the process. Just like their playing styles, Jordan and Shaq have completely different tastes in cars, with Jordan preferring fast  while Shaq prefers custom cars that suit his ‘unique needs’. We’ve updated this article to further highlight how different these NBA legends are when it comes to cars.

Michael Jordan certainly knows how to use his money right,  of any NBA player, present or past. Jordan definitely knows his cars, which is visible from some of the sick rides he has in his garage – from ultra-fast European   to exquisite  . At the same time, Lakers’ legend Shaquille O’Neal isn’t far behind, either. One of the most prolific men in NBA history, Shaq has a car collection to go with his personality. , which puts some of them in weird territory as well. In that vein, here are six of the sickest cars in Michael Jordan’s garage, and six weird rides that Shaq owns.

Michael Jordan: Aston Martin DB9 Volante

As it so happens, Michael Jordan also owned and loved an Aston Martin DB7 Volante. Since it went out of production, MJ got himself the next best thing, the DB9 Volante. Back in the early 2000s, .

It was in 2013 that , upgrading everything from the design to the performance. Riding on a 5.9-liter V12 engine, MJ’s Aston Martin DB9 Volante is capable of going from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds, touching the 183 mph mark on the speedometer.

Shaq: Custom ‘Superman’ Cadillac Escalade

Shaq is a big dude, which is why he loves big luxury SUVs like the Cadillac Escalade. However, a stock Escalade is just too normal for Shaq, which is why he decided to customize his. Shaq’s custom  has some history to it. Shaq bought this car after completing the only NBA three-peat in the 21st century. He got this Escalade painted in a custom color, along with butterfly doors being its main attraction.

He also got a special Superman logo on the front grille, which is tacky at best and tasteless at worst. The Man of Steel’s logo also adorns the headrests inside, along with a massive 12-inch subwoofer system, which would ensure that you hear Shaq rolling up in the car.

Michael Jordan: Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 40th Anniversary Edition

Michael Jordan was on top of the basketball world in the early ’90s, having won his first-ever NBA title. To celebrate, Jordan decided to buy one of the best American sports cars he could find at the time – the Corvette ZR1 40th Anniversary Edition. Chevrolet’s Corvette ZR1 was a formidable car, capable of going toe-to-toe with European rivals at less than half their price.

, Chevy only made 220 of these cars, which also makes it one of the rarer Corvettes to come from the marque.

Shaq: Custom Polaris Slingshot

, and the weirdest one is certainly this custom Polaris Slingshot. The four-time NBA champion got his Slingshot customized and extended, adding two more seats to make his very own ‘Sling-Shaq’.

However, even with this bigger modified edition, the Sling-Shaq certainly seems small when Shaq sits behind the wheel. Churning out a mere 180 horsepower, the Polaris Slingshot isn’t as powerful as Shaq’s other cars, but it is one of the weirder ones.

Michael Jordan: Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano

While MJ did settle for cheaper cars like the aforementioned Corvette, he later brought home pricier European exotics. Of course, what is the point of a significant bank balance if you don’t buy a Ferrari?

The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano is another addition to MJ’s collection of fast cars, riding on a V12 engine that delivers 612 horsepower. , debuting in 2006.

Shaq: Terminator-Themed Ford F-650

. The truck is massive like Shaq, and also extremely powerful, not unlike the Lakers’ legend. Shaquille O’Neal spent a significant amount of money on customizing this truck, too.

Shaq spent as much on customizations for his F-650 as he did buying it, with the modification costing him an extra $60,000. After turning it into a Terminator-themed truck, Shaq got bored with it and later sold it.

Michael Jordan: Ferrari 512 Testarossa

The Ferrari Testarossa is an iconic car that not just gearheads, . One of MJ’s favorites, the Ferrari 512 Testarossa cost him $212,000 to buy and customize, all the way back in the early ’90s.

Ferrari made the TR from 1984 to 1996, and the car certainly divides opinion when it comes to its design. However, it is undeniably fast, riding on a 4.9-liter 12-cylinder power unit.

Shaq: Golden GMC Sierra Denali

What happened with this Sierra Denali with a custom job is something the greatest minds couldn’t figure out. Some shops out there did a great job at making Shaq’s Sierra Denali stand out, but they sure chose a terrible way to do it.

There’s a serious off-road suspension on this truck, but with wheels that look like they came off a sports car.  than an actual vehicle with any practical use, this gold-painted GMC Sierra Denali is, quite simply, a crazy attempt at customization.

Michael Jordan: Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 Edition

Special edition cars are some of the rarer versions of already-great vehicles that only a special few gets to obtain. .

An upgraded version of the Mercedes-Benz car, the McLaren 722 Edition spurted out 650 horsepower, 33 hp more than the standard variant. A stiffer suspension also made it ride faster and more confidently, making it a great addition to MJ’s garage.

Shaq: Slammed Chevy G1500

Shaquille O’Neal has a big car collection, but it certainly isn’t the most tasteful. The Chevrolet G1500 offers a lot of space, making it perfect for a man of Shaq’s stature and build. Sadly, .

The obligatory Superman emblem on the front fascia is tacky and tasteless, as it always is on Shaq’s cars. Furthermore, the van also gets air suspension, slamming it to the ground, which would leave onlookers scratching their heads.

Michael Jordan: Porsche 911 Turbo S (993)

Michael Jordan is a huge Ferrari fan, as we’ve seen above, but he also loves Porsches as well. Jordan has owned a few Porsches over the years and has a soft spot for models built during the air-cooled era. Jordan loves Porsches so much that legendary Nike designer Tinker Hatfield used Jordan’s Porsche 911 as his inspiration when designing the Air Jordan 6 in the ’90s.

Jordan has owned several Porsches, but the best of the bunch is arguably a Guards Red 993-generation 911 Turbo S. He also owns a 930-generation 911 Turbo Slantnose Cabriolet, which is among .

Shaq: Vanderhall Santarosa

Shaq loves his trikes and, even more, riding them with friends on the streets. Another cool trike in Shaq’s collection is the Vanderhall Speedster. Vanderhall has been in business for many years now, but the company gained recognition  on a 2017 episode. Shaq is seemingly one of the gearheads who fell in love with Vanderhall’s products, as he bought himself a Speedster shortly after learning about it.

The Speedster is a two-seater three-wheeled roadster that delivers all the thrills Shaq craves, thanks to a GM-built 1.4-liter turbocharged engine cranking out 180 hp. Due to his size, Shaq makes the Speedster look like a toy car. However, with prices at just under $30,000, it’s a pretty expensive toy.
