Jokic, 28, has played in the NBA for nine seasons with the Denver Nuggets and has had a highly decorated NBA career in just a short time.

He’s won the league MVP twice. Last season, he captured the franchise’s first NBA championship and was Finals MVP.

However, in his recent interview with teammate Micahel Porter Jr. on his Podcast ‘Curious Mike, ‘ Jokic revealed his thoughts on his celebrity lifestyle.

“I really don’t like this life because, at the end of the day, we are just basketball players.

“We are just good at what we are doing.

“But the media is something that is around us, and of course, we are getting paid because of the media, because of our popularity,” he shared.

Jokic continued explaining how he hopes when he retires, people will see him as more than just a basketball player and doesn’t want the fame.

“But being famous, I think some people like it. I don’t, really.

“When I finish my career, I really wish nobody knows me.

“And I really wish my kid, or kids in the future, really remember me as a dad, not as a basketball player,” Jokic said.

He also shared that he aspires to live in “the moment” and that he’s just an ordinary person.

“To not have [a] phone, I think that’s another big goal of mine. …

“To live in the moment like you said, like being a normal person.

“Like go drink with your buddy or go have lunch or go play with the kid or go ride horses and nobody’s going to make a big deal of that,” Jokic expressed.

Jokic went viral this summer after winning the NBA title. He went back home to his country of Serbia and won a horse racing championship.

Jokic owns a stable full of “more than half a dozen” horses in Serbia, according to The Athletic.

The 6-foot-11, 284-pound specimen doesn’t ride horses, but his passion to train racehorses stems from his childhood.

“At some point in my life I started to go into horse racing,” Nikola said SlamMagazine in 2016.

“I just fell in love with horses and their beauty and elegance.”

Through 33 games this season, Jokic is averaging 26.4 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 9.2 assists as the Nuggetscurrently sit second in the Western Conference with a record of 23-10.
