Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green will likely remain out for at least another three weeks after being slapped with an indefinite suspension, according to a report.

The NBA handed down the punishment after he struck Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkic during a game on December 12.

Green is now getting professional help during his suspension, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, who adds that the ban could continue through to January, which could mean the forward will miss at least nine games.

Green is reportedly expected to work with the Warriors and the league while receiving counselling and has been understanding of the process he must go through to meet the requirements to return.

Green was ejected last Tuesday after hitting Nurkic and late the following day, the league announced the suspension effective immediately.

The 33-year-old was also suspended five games by the NBA for putting Minnesota’s Rudy Gobert into a headlock during an altercation in November.

Last season during training camp, Green took a leave of absence from the 2022 NBA champions in what coach Steve Kerr called a ‘mutual decision’ after the star forward violently punched then-teammate Jordan Poole in the face. Neither player was injured.

Green was also suspended twice last season- including during the playoffs, when he stomped on Sacramento Kings forward Domantas Sabonis during a first-round playoff contest.

In the wake of his latest suspension, several players, including former teammate Kevin Durant have spoken out, hoping Green gets the help he needs.

‘That was insane to see,’ Durant said of Green smacking Nurkic in the face last week. ‘… Never seen anything like that before on the basketball court in an NBA game. I hope Draymond gets the help he needs.’

Meanwhile, Nurkic himself had claimed the repeat offender needed help, speaking after the altercation last Tuesday.

‘What’s going on with him? I don’t know,’ Nurkic said. ‘Personally, I feel like that brother needs help. I’m glad he didn’t try to choke me. At the same time, it ain’t nothing to do with basketball.’
Th Warriors have gone 201 since Green’s ejection and the reported three-week timeframe could see the stretch of games he’ll miss extend to 12.
