For various reasons, actors’ refusals to film scenes are nothing new in Hollywood. Many actors have declined roles on set for various reasons, including personal preference, religious convictions, and incompatibility with the character’s storyline. In contrast to the norm, Isla Fisher had an unusual reason for turning down a scene.

When it was released in 2005, the comedy Wedding Crashers became a huge financial success, earning $288 million worldwide. The film’s success can be attributed partly to its stellar cast, including the incomparable Isla Fisher.

From Being The Funniest Audition To Refusing A Scene

Lisa Beach, in charge of casting, remembers Fisher’s audition, stating, “Isla Fisher was the funniest audition ever.”:
“Isla Fisher was the funniest audition ever.” She came into the room and did the scene where she puts the make on [Vaughn’s character] in the bathroom and suddenly just goes out of her mind. And Isla, dare I say, spread her legs, flopped me down on my back and was just crawling all over me.”

Fisher’s comedic timing and chemistry with co-star Vince Vaughn were undeniable, but the actress took a stand when the script required her to reveal a little more skin than she was comfortable with. Fisher told the Sydney Morning Herald that using a body double for the nude sequences wasn’t a problem for her because she didn’t “have a problem with nudity.”
“It is not like I have a problem with nudity but I didn’t think there was anything funny about seeing a woman’s n*pple.”
The actress further elaborated that female comic character is no longer funny if “you see her n*pples.”:
“I feel like if you have a female comic character, and then you see her n*pples, then she is no longer funny, which is clearly wrong, but that was my theory, and that’s why I didn’t want to do it.”
Bravery and talent have made Fisher a fan favorite, and many hope for a Wedding Crashers sequel. Fisher said, “I would love to be involved in that project…but I have not heard,” in an interview with Cinema Blend, indicating her enthusiasm for the role and the film. “I know as little as the next person.”

Will There Be A Sequel?

Even though speculation about a sequel had been going on for quite some time, it wasn’t until 2021 that anything started to take shape. The movie’s leading men seemed to have been busy with their projects at the time of the announced speculation.

However, in August 2022, Owen Wilson confirmed in an interview on extratv that the movie’s director is “sort of, kind of, exploring some ideas.” For the longest time, there were rumors that the Wedding Crashers sequel would skip the theatre release and directly release on HBO Max.
