The diamond-filled bathtub used in Swift’s Look What You Made Me Do music video, an apparent jab at Kim Kardashian’s Paris robbery, wasn’t just handy prop work.

The hundreds of carats in jewels are authentic, care of loaned pieces from celebrity jeweller Neil Lane, and cost more than $US10 million ($12 million), Page Six reports.

“Many of the designs appear to be vintage and period pieces from Lane’s vault,” the publication says, noting that an “insane” amount of security was involved during the shoot.

The clip, directed by music video veteran Joseph Khan, is filled with easter eggs taking shots at Swift’s public feuds and media headlines.

Fans have noted the bathtub shot, during which Swift sings “I don’t like your perfect crime, how you laugh when you lie”, appeared to target Kardashian, who was robbed of around $US5 million worth of jewellery during a heist at a Paris hotel last October.

Swift and Kardashian have beef stretching back to last July, over whether or not Swift okayed Kardashian’s partner Kanye West’s “I made that bitch famous” line in his controversial song Famous.

The fallout, which saw Kardashian leak a Snapchat recording between Swift and West where Swift appeared to approve the lyric, led to the pop star being accused of being a snake – an icon which makes numerous appearances in the music video, including Swift’s ring in the bathtub shot.

The bathtub shot also sees Swift flanked by a single dollar bill, the amount she was awarded for winning her court trial against a radio DJ who groped her during a photo.

The music video, which debuted during the MTV VMAs on Monday, has already broken viewing records on YouTube.

According to Nielsen, it’s 43.2 million views within its first 24 hours makes it the biggest debut of any video in YouTube history, beating out Psy’s 2013 hit Gentleman, which earned 36 million views.

Besides the Kardashian bathtub antics, Swift’s other targets in the clip include Tom Hiddleston’s infamous “I heart TS” t-shirt, media obsession over her “squad” of Hollywood celebs and supermodels, and a tongue-in-cheek jab at her own previous personas.
