It was alleged that the Eyes Wide Shut actor purposefully blocked Lopez’s movie Hustlers from getting an Oscar nod.

Following the alleged feud between Jennifer Lopez and Tom Cruise, outlets brazenly claimed that Lopez was plotting an act of revenge against Cruise. It was reported that the latter allegedly launched a campaign to ban the actress from receiving an Oscar. And thus, when Lopez found out about Cruise’s bold move, she began plotting revenge in return.

“Whatever he did, it worked. It was the biggest snub of the year – it just didn’t make sense. But now we know why. The rumors are all over town that Tom was behind it and Jen’s absolutely seething,” sources claimed.
The dubious source further mentioned,
“She [Jennifer] knows Tom’s got a lot riding on the Top Gun remake, so she’s going to start spinning up some dirt to throw his way.”
Disclosing the actress’ alleged plot, insiders mentioned,
“A nicely timed joint interview with Leah could be just the ticket – all she has to do is dredge up the past and mention the wedding.”

Lopez and Cruise’s secret feud and revenge was all lie

However, in the end, the entire rumor turned out to be a lie. According to Gossip Cop, the rumors were entirely false and the secret fight was not confirmed either. The Academy further explained to the media outlets why they did not give Lopez a nomination. Simply stating that Hustlers “is not an ‘Oscar movie’”, members of the Academy Awards clarified the whole thing.
