Amid rumours that ‘Venom 3’ will be the final instalment, Tom Hardy shares cryptic update where he refers to it as “the last dance”.

Tom Hardy has shared a new production update for Sony Pictures’ 2024 Spider-Man spin-off Venom 3 on his Instagram, where he stars as the titular Eddie Brock and Venom.

In the update, the actor refers to the third Venom instalment as “the last dance” and interestingly enough, rumours that the third one will be the last have been circulating on the web (pardon the pun) these past few weeks.

Hardy’s latest update where he calls it “the last dance” seems to somewhat confirm those rumours that this may be his last time playing the titular Marvel character on the big screen – at least in a Venom solo instalment, as it’s expected he may still make appearances in future Spider spin-off flicks – however, nothing has been confirmed in terms of that as of writing this article.

In the actor’s latest social post, he provides a production update statement in celebration of Venom 3 being back in business now that the recent SAG-AFRA and WGA strikes have both officially ended after finding a resolution with the AMPTP.

Hardy began by writing: “[VENOM 3]🔥🔥🔥❤️ The last dance – thankfully we are back to shooting; and I want to take a moment just to thank all the teams thus far on the ride from V1 to here all our fantastic Cast and crew,”.

He continued: “Good friends and family – we’ve come a long way – it’s been and continues to be a lot of fun this journey there’s always hard turns to burn when we work but doesn’t feel as hard when you love what you do and when you know you have great material and the support at all sides, of a great team.”

Hardy ends his statement with: “Trust, your gut, your instincts are always spot on. First class – I back you. 💯 %. As always. And I absolutely love working with you and watching you take on bigger challenges everytime.”

The Dunkirk actor first portrayed the role on the big screen in 2018 when its first instalment, Venom, was released in theatres worldwide – with it being an instant win with the Marvel/Spidey fandom – and quickly led to its sequel being both green-lit and produced.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage, a sequel that was also teased in the first film’s stinger, was released later in 2021 – along with Hardy then making a brief appearance in the multiverse-caused events during Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: No Way Home – both movies heavily teased that Hardy’s Venom and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will meet, however, this hasn’t technically happened just yet.

It’s highly expected that Sony and Marvel Studios have shared plans to crossover these characters, as well as the actors playing them, in a larger Spider-Verse-driven storyline that both studios have been building toward for several years now.

Venom 3 hits theatres on November 8, 2024.
