During the filming of a 2014 sci-fi movie, Edge of Tomorrow, Emily Blunt, who starred as Sergeant Rita Vrataski alongside Tom Cruise’s Major William Cage, was expected to do some seriously difficult stunts.

As she looked up to her overly experienced co-star, known for his daredevil stunts, the actress received a motivation she expected the least. Cruise stared at the British actress for a long while, and then said: “Come on, stop being such a p**sy, OK?”
The Mission: Impossible actor’s harsh comment resulted in massive backlash, as fans continued to label it as highly “unprofessional and horrible”. Emily Blunt, on the other hand, came to Cruise’s rescue, shutting down haters for wrongly spinning Cruise’s “tough love” into something that offended her.
Emily Blunt Suffered Permanent Injuries While Performing Stunts
While The Devil Wears Prada actress managed to follow the “tough love” motivation from her co-star, it is also true that Emily Blunt received permanent injuries from her time performing stunts on Edge of Tomorrow (2014).
Even though she managed to sail through, Blunt had to be replaced by a stunt double in some scenes, given the weight of her costume and the fact that she ended up injuring her ribs and collarbone. As for the backlash Tom Cruise faced, Blunt famously said:
“It’s ludicrous that it’s being spun as something that offended me. It didn’t. I shared the story as lightheartedly as it was meant by Tom.”
