Johnny Fratto, a former con artist who coached Tom Cruise in The Color of Money, believed the actor was not homosexual.

When it comes to his on-screen portrayals, Tom Cruise rarely goes sideways, having built his career by playing a number of straightforward masculine characters. Perhaps the biggest action star of his generation, the 61-year-old is known for his physics-defying stunts rather than giving life to roles with complex emotional layers.

However, behind the scenes, Cruise is often in the news for his complex lifestyle and beliefs, be it for his public association with Scientology or allegations of being a homosexual. In the latter case, a deceased con artist came to his rescue through his biography.

A Con Artist’s Biography Sheds Light on Tom Cruise’s Sexuality

Tom Cruise became the s-x symbol of the 80s after the success of teen comedy Risky Business. His sleek performance as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell in the action drama Top Gun only added to his charm, making him a heartthrob among female viewers.

However, in the 90s the Daily Express raised question marks over Cruise’s sexuality by claiming that his marriage to Nicole Kidman was a sham to cover up his homosexuality. In 1998, the actor won a libel case against the newspaper (via Irish Times). But a few years later, he was again in the news for the same suggestions, as a French “erotic wrestler” named Chad Slater claimed that the two had an affair. As per The Guardian, the Mission: Impossible star managed to successfully sue Slater.

The thing about such allegations is that they spread like wildfire, and even if there’s no truth behind such rumors, once they are public they tend to dent an individual’s image. In that regard, a biography from Johnny Fratto helped to further strengthen Cruise’s fight against rumors concerning his sexuality.

According to the Telegraph, Fratto, who was a con artist and an art forger, talked about his experiences of coaching Cruise for his role in The Color of Money, insisting rumors people have heard about the actor are far from true.

“Despite what rumours you’ve heard, I can vouch from firsthand experience that Tom Cruise is not a homosexual,” Fratto states in his biography titled, Now That I’m Dead, Here’s The Real Dirt: The Posthumous Memoirs of Johnny Fratto.
Fratto mentioned his outing with Cruise in a Chicago nightclub wherein he was impressed by the way the Eyes Wide Shut star swooned women and he didn’t notice anything homosexual about the actor.

Since then, the Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One star has seen his name linked with many beautiful Hollywood divas, including Hayley Atwell, but has not had a serious relationship with any woman that the public is aware of.

At the moment, he’s believed to be single, but as per a report in Heat (via The Mirror), the Top Gun star is interested in rekindling romance with newly single Sofia Vergara. The two had a brief romance before Cruise married Holmes.
